Interesting...I do keep the red window covered with tape except when I am winding on. Anyway, I'll keep it as-is; one of the things I like about film photography is that I'm never fully in control: the camera and the film have their say and I treat them as creative partners.
It's possible, but definitely a strange one: I have loads of photos where I'm shooting into the sun and it doesn't appear; it mainly appears when the sun is to the side, but sometimes even appears in full overcast conditions so maybe it's just a rarely triggered leak.
I'm pretty sure it's not a leak; it never appears when I use a red filter on the lens, for example, and it only appears in 5-10% of my photos with this camera. I like it most of the time so don't really want to "fix" the issue.
This little sprite shows up unpredictably in a lot of my photos with this particular Holga; I love it (most of the time...sometimes it is disruptive in an unwelcome way).
Yes! I don't know what causes them; at first I thought it was a light leak but I am pretty sure it's a flare. It only appears in some of my photos, and often the sun is not in the frame or even out of it, so the origin is mysterious (which is okay with me).

When film is underexposed, my scanner often can't detect individual frames and merges adjacent ones to form a "scanorama." It's easy to fix, but sometimes the effect can be interesting.

Nice simple solution for adding a filter to that camera; I hadn't thought of that!
The light patterns are amazing, and so is the grain.

I think most of my photos with this film are already slightly underexposed; I often have to pull up the shadows, which results in a green shift in those areas. I usually meter it at EI 320 but for my next roll I'll try 250. I think I'd start blowing highlights at 200.
I have a small stash of this film in my fridge and I think it'll just keep getting more interesting as it gets older. It shifts a lot with long exposures; I'm overexposing a little to account for it being expired but think I need to overexpose a bit more now.

I've shot a few rolls of Foma Ortho 400 lately. The 120 version is extremely curly and hard to scan; the 35mm dries flat with no curl at all. It's the fastest orthochromatic film on the market. Here's a portrait of two friends.

It is frustrating for sure (I also am a musician and have seen how lack of online engagement can lead one to believe that nobody's interested in their music). Maybe social media is just not the right platform for it.
