I am sorry to hear it but impressed you manage to keep writing anyway. Writing can take a lot of willpower and motivation at the best of times
That's hard. I had to stop working earlier this year but when I was, I often had to remind myself I liked writing- the amount of work writing takes on top of a day job was be overwhelming for me. Glad it can still bring you a sense of wonder :)
To be honest, migraines/insomnia can make it difficult for me to write! If I'm well, I'm usually motivated to put words down. I work through by this practicing more selfcare than I can be bothered with and very luckily, I am able to regularly practice that self care
Curious to hear from other writers: What are your biggest barriers to writing? How do you overcome them?

I reread Nevermoor for the first time in several years and it was just as good as remembered. Every sentence is packed with life and magic, and the world is so wondrous you can't put it down. I finished it too quick!

I would but you just did it for me! I just finished another rewatch of Schitt's Creek, Alexis and David are the best 😊
Above by Leah Bobet- just finished last night. Beautiful story with themes of healing and otherness and I can't wait to read her other novel!
#writingupdate I had a wonderful time last week meeting my classmates from Faber's Writing the Speculative Novel at our anthology book launch.

It is very surreal to see my words in print! The anthology will be sent out to publishers/agents, so we'll see if I hear back😊

Feeling the need to remind myself of this Ursula K LeGuin quote today:

"We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings."
You will! And if not, that is what revision is for 😊
This sounds fun!
I’ve been thinking about hosting lives and maybe starting a podcast to interview authors about their books! Would any authors or readers be interested? #booksky 📚🌶️
🤩 That is some badass inspiration, not gonna lie
I was inspired when I heard the line: "...it was like being set adrift in a sea where I couldn’t drown, where all the monsters lurking in the depths rather liked me and wouldn’t upset my little craft,' in The Chosen and the Beautiful by Nghi Vo.

One simple image spiraled into an entire novel!
Hey writers!

I'm curious to know- what inspired your current work-in-progess? I love hearing about what inspires writers and artists!

Heartbreaking reading, but this Reddit thread gives a sense of the relentlessness of the horror inflicted by ICE, and the damage being done to so many innocent people that doesn't make the news.

I am on a bit of a YA kick and finally got around to reading Sabriel- I loved it! Such clean sharp prose and I love how the fantasy world is protrayed in such agrounded and realistic way. I'm excited to continue the series!

#WritingUpdate:
I'm still waiting for feedback from my novel so this week I worked on a short story- my first horror story! When I circle back to it I'll have to figure out how to up the ominous.

How did everyone else's week go?

Incredible! I wish every country did this. Most specifically Aus, where I currently live

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

MUP says it is ‘no longer viable’ to make the literary magazine – but almost none of them are financially viable. That’s not their purpose or value * Get our weekend culture and lifestyle email Some years ago, I wrote about the terrible repercussions that would follow if the literary magazine Island were forced to close following its defunding by the Tasmanian state government’s arts funding body. I argued that there would be significant impacts for readers and writers throughout the nation. In the end, the magazine survived, but only because of a lengthy period of seriously hard work by the magazine’s staff and board that raised enough support to keep it off the chopping block and get it back on its feet. This appears to be in embarrassing contrast to the efforts at Meanjin, where the board of Melbourne University Publishing has announced that after 85 years the magazine will simply close, making its two part-time staff (who were not involved in the decision) redundant and shutting the doors on what has long been regarded as Australia’s most prestigious literary magazine. Where is any sort of similar commitment to keep the magazine going in some form? As author Jennifer Mills wrote on social media: “The loss of Meanjin is devastating news for Australian writers and readers … An entirely avoidable disaster.” Continue reading...

I don't know if I am a fan of those things but the your description is compelling enough I want to check this out!
