Yep, that too. Mr K likes the rum and raisin one.
He also likes the Lidl blended malt whisky. He did a blind test with a whisky connoisseur friend once who thought it was some sort of very posh single malt and loved it.
There's life in the old girl yet. I actually felt like doing stuff today for the first time in weeks.
So I did stuff. Small stuff, but phew.
And with added Lidl goodies (was lovely to get out and see all the autumn colours).
@dwpete.bsky.social Lidl done and dusted, with Alpine goodies. Also Stollen bites. Thank you!
I'd cut it horizontally, spread a layer of jam (or chopped dates) and just warm it slightly - cold Brie is not good.
You can also add a drizzle of honey (particularly good if you're using dates).
Rosemary can be woody, so just add a branch while warming it all up in foil, for the fragrance?
That's...
(Nope, words really do fail me on that).
And it's *expensive* for a few bits of plastic, no? Is it, um, a 'collectible' of some sort? Do they do King Kong with, I dunno, another religious leader and assorted military plastic?
I had covid (or something like it) first. Felt much better after 5 days and had the appointment for the 2nd zona jab (had already cancelled it once) so I went, thinking that the 1st jab had been fine.
So whether it was a mix of the two things, I dunno.
I had the opposite - no reaction to the first jab except sore arm but the second one was hell (but probably mixed up with covid). Not a good combination.
Don't be like me and have the 2nd zona shot while probably still with the vestiges of covid (didn't test, but seemed like it). First zona jab was fine and the second floored me (and still nowhere near 100%).
Ah. Thank you. Might have to give in and go because I am too old and lazy to make my own Rösti when the (Swiss-made) foil packs are available.
Same with the Spätzle.
Old habits, y'know. I was in Switzerland for 28 years, after all.
Thanks! I check now and again as I have a soft spot for Greek week (and 'Alpine week'). It's just that bit further than our two local supermarkets, though.
Hope they do the 0% gin again - it helped get me through Dry January, which I may or may not do this time around. I can get 0% Tanqueray but $$.
As Lidl is hardly next door, and I never know when I'll get there, I do get a few stocks in. A couple of the little mini-Stollens to go with a dessert really hit the spot. Or with coffee.
I keep forgetting I have a box of them in there, though. Might have to dig a couple out now.
It is not too early. I should really make some (I used to), but Lidl's are really not bad at all*.
I might feel a trip to Lidl coming on (it's a one-hour round trip). But the chocolate-covered gingerbread hearts must be in by now too, right?
*They also freeze, btw.
Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning. It's drizzling here. Gorgeous photo, though!
I remember spending several hours in Joburg airport, and that it was *nice* (on the way to Botswana, which was wonderful despite being 90% work). Great coffee bars and a huge biltong shop too!
Enjoy Namibia!
To my own huge regret, we can't distribute anything that has been processed 'at home' because of legal/health and safety regulations. I do hand out some of my own jam to 'clients' I know well but 'on the quiet'.
The fruit, though, would be welcomed with open arms.
Fingers crossed for you - finally getting over mine (could have been COVID but tests out of date and didn't feel up to a trek to the pharmacy).
Lots of rest and cat cuddles were my best prescription too (but also Doliprane).
Oh, that brings back memories of ours! It was a new house so the bunks (shelves) came in kit form. We built them upside down at first.
I even remember the 'inspection' of it, once done, and them threatening to delay approval as the massive door squeaked. I squirted WD40 and... bingo.
It was! But seriously try it (I keep a tiny bottle of the oil now for that but also to give an extra blast if I do duck and the sauce isn't orange-y enough).
The one who instantly came to mind was Margaret Atwood. But there are many more.
On recommendation (can't remember whose) I tried adding a few drops of sweet orange oil in pumpkin soup a while back and just...
WOW.
(I now need to make pumpkin soup, I think).
8,000 people, in the depths of the Drôme. Very pretty, not very touristy (except for the Dutch with their campervans). We much prefer B&Bs when travelling too - to many years of work travel and bland, soulless hotels.
When we first started, there were about 3 places in the whole of our town. Some great guests, as I said, with few exceptions. But suddenly everybody was doing it, and at stupidly cheap prices (not very nice places either). Then there was Covid. So... we'd had enough. Wasn't for a quick $ anyway!
Double whammy with a nasty bug and bad reaction to the 2nd shingles vaccine. I was still more or less functional but steamrollered. Still am, a bit. But I'm a tough old bird.
We did AirBnB over 15 years ago - 'old style', family accommodation. It was OK for a few years (despite hating the interface and 'support'). Met some fabulous, 'normal' people. Then we saw it all changing and stopped. Different in rural areas like ours, though - I hate what it's doing to cities.
Ta. Nasty bug that was probably Covid (tests out of date - didn't feel up to a trek to the pharmacy). Then 2nd shingles vaccine just as I was improving, which floored me again for another week. Bleh. And in the middle of it, the huge food bank collection drive that I couldn't go AWOL for.
Hey ho.
