Academic. Writer. Author of Hawaii Five-O (TV Milestone) from Wayne State Univ. Press. Fascinated by TV, film, and gender studies, especially American masculinities.
128th: Live and Let Die published in 1954 the second Bond novel is nothing like the film and today feels quite shocking with the casual nature of Fleming’s racist depictions of Harlem, black characters in America, especially the villain Mr. Big. Voodoo is minimal in the book unlike film. #booksky

127th: The Black Wolf the 20th in Louise Penny’s Three Pines series concludes the crisis from Grey Wolf that Gamache, Jean-Guy, and Lacoste faced with the murder of a homeless biologist and a conspiracy to harm Canada. It is a solid thriller but I do miss the focus on the citizens of Three Pines.

Rewatching one of my favorite 80s holiday films I saw as a kid— #Planes,TrainsandAutomobiles (Hughes, 1987). I try to watch it every Thanksgiving season. So funny and Candy and Martin are genius together.

Today’s viewing: #ABetterTomorrowII (Woo, 1987) a direct sequel that reunites the cast from first film with Chow Yun-fat playing the twin brother of his character from the first film. #DarkWinds is one of the great overlooked shows right now. Finished S3 last night. It is so great to have series telling new stories from perspective of Native Americans. It allows Zahn McClaron to show that he is currently one of the greatest living actors.
