British in central France with my wife and best friend, (that's one person, just to be clear). Music, especially jazz, obsessive. Live-and-let-live lefty. πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¨πŸ‡΅πŸŽΈπŸ·

George is finally vindicated!
A superb album, owing a clear debt to "Dark Side" but a gem in its own right. "Hide In Your Shell" is a standout for me. πŸ‘πŸ»
I remember him well, in particular a glorious solo goal against . . . was it Everton? πŸ€”
Music, of course, by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. πŸ‘πŸ»
"Soul Companion" by Mary Chapin Carpenter and James Taylor.
Also "Blue" by Barry Manilow and Sarah Vaughan, from his wonderful album, "2am Paradise CafΓ©".
Both duets are perfection.
Doesn't the involvement of the military (?) already signal a public expense? πŸ€”
First LP I ever bought, probably in early 1970 after an older neighbour played it to me. I was 14. Until then Hank Marvin was my favourite guitarist but JP's solo on Heartbreaker just blew me away. I still recall the visceral excitement of hearing it for the first time.
I saw this trio at Brecon Jazz in the UK many years ago. They were just sensational. RIP to a master musician. πŸ˜₯
Cob Records in Porthmadoc, North Wales was my spiritual home in the mid-1970s. I can't count how many wonderful LPs I bought either from hearing them playing in the shop or a recommendation from a fellow customer. As you say, a gathering place for the faithful. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
Absolutely one of the great concert albums. Genesis at their peak, each member playing out of their socks. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
Great horn arrangement by Dave Grusin, a favourite of mine.

Happy 84th birthday, singer, songwriter, and guitarist Paul Simon. πŸŽ‚
Thank you for this recommendation, Oren. I listened to the album on iTunes and have just bought it. Isn't it an enchanting piece of work? Many thanks πŸ‘πŸ»

I've posted this album before but listening to it each time feels like being embraced by the innermost thoughts of the maestro Anouar Brahem. Supported by virtuoso German cellist Anja Lechner and British jazzers Dave Holland and Django Bates, it's a truly affecting listen.
A truly lovely album. "Curse of the Traveller" is just one outstanding track. πŸ‘πŸ»
Bruce Springsteen at the Birmingham NEC in June '81, the concert rearranged from March. I had a ticket. But it was rescheduled to June 7th, the estimated date for the birth of our first child. So I gave my ticket to a pal who wasn't really keen on going and three weeks later my son was born.

If big band jazz is your thing, you can't go wrong with this 2025 release from the much admired Mark Masters. As you'd expect, it swings like crazy. Veteran saxophonist Billy Harper leads.
They are a little too restless, I agree.
Agreed. It was excellent. πŸ‘πŸ»

For me there are few joys greater than when two musicians from utterly different backgrounds, working in different worlds, collaborate to seek what unites and connects them. I love this one.
I have it. Mr Larkin is something of a curmudgeon but writes with great wit. He seemed to have little time for bop or the freer aspects of jazz but is delightful on Armstrong, Bechet, Teagarden etc. For anyone who enjoys reading about jazz LPs it's an enjoyable read. πŸ‘πŸ»

A much loved novel. What a feat of imagination to construct a story which unfolds almost entirely inside a hotel. It's elegant, witty and engrossing. If only one could live one's life with the equanimity and style of Count Alexander Rostov.
Agreed. I have the 4 Mare Nostrum albums by this wonderful trio. All are hauntingly beautiful and unmistakably European. πŸ‘πŸ»

I'm a big fan of Vince Mendoza for the unique voicing he brings to his bands plus his versatility. He's worked outside of jazz with Joni Mitchell and I saw him live in Manchester UK with the wonderful Mary Chapin Carpenter. This album opens with Miles' "All Blues".
Condon once said he liked to come onto the stand in a state of perfect equilibrium, half man, half alcohol. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜„
