British in central France with my wife and best friend, (that's one person, just to be clear). Music, especially jazz, obsessive. Live-and-let-live lefty. 🇪🇺🇬🇧🇨🇵🎸🍷
The Beatles in Llandudno Aug '63. I was 7yo and in the wings stage left with my Dad and brother. Also, Led Zeppelin, Cardiff in December '72.

An exquisite film with faultless portrayals from the two leads plus powerful support from Sarah Paulson and Kyle Chandler. As you say, it's beautifully shot and directed. For me it's a masterpiece.

His recording with Mary Chapin Carpenter of "Not Too Much To Ask" is one of my favourite duets.

His score for the French film, "Un Long Dimanche de Fiançailles" (English title "A Very Long Engagement") is achingly beautiful. Probably my favourite film score.

I wasn't familiar with Quintin Dujardin but I listened to the samples on iTunes and bought it. An excellent recording. Thanks for the recommendation. 👍🏻

A truly great live album. The band is terrific, Richard Bennett on lead guitar. I remember buying this with Led Zeppelin's new release "Houses of the Holy" in 1973 for £5.78 . . .
My god, those were the days. 😅

Hi, Nora. I've seen Martin play in pubs, small clubs, theatres and festivals in the UK - solo, in duos trios and his Spirit of Django ensemble. He's never less than mesmerising. Thanks for your reply (I love your videos). All the best. 👍

Agree absolutely. if you're not familiar with his superb album "2am Paradise Café" I highly recommend it. A wonderful late night record with Sarah Vaughan, Mel Tormé and Gerry Mulligan. 👍🏻

Actually, no, I haven't seen this! But I will investigate. Many thanks. 👍🏻

Wonderful. I share your father's admiration for Previn. He seemed to be the complete musician with an immense feel for both jazz and classical. Thanks for your response. 👍🏻

The full album version of W.O.L.D. (the truncated single edit lost its poignancy) plus 'Mr Tanner' and much of his live album.

If they hadn't already used it, "Close To The Edge" would have fitted this album. Some beautiful passages but somewhat overblown and, yes, self indulgent.

Mary Chapin Carpenter is, for me, in the front rank of American songwriters of the last 50 years.
