Any animal or plant that has ESA protection has become a lightning rod for GOP hate mongery. It isn't about the particular species being saved from extinction; it's the idea that any government would have the gall to refuse to allow them to do anything they please.

Enjoy!

Dame Jane Goodall was such a quiet and dignified person. The contributions she made and impact she has had in helping all of us better understand our place in the world in the value of all that is not human on it are legion.. Her voice will be greatly missed.

Today is the last day to comment on proposed rescission of the Roadless Rule!

The 58 million acres of forest protected by the Roadless Rule store vast amounts of carbon, provide vital habitat for fish and wildlife species, and are more resilient to wildfire (despite false claims).

Running around this morning like the proverbial chicken I started coffee and then moved on to the rest of the stuff I had to get done. As soon as I reached a good break point, I went back for coffee.
I had neglected to turn the machine on. 🙄

I was a misfit in high school. A photographer/artist/naturalist, a handful of friends got it. One of those just commented on FB, "You are the only one, that I can remember, who knew exactly who you were and what you wanted to do as a kid and did it! I love your posts and photography"

Yesterday we lucked into perfect conditions for making photographs of Yellowstone's Old Faithful! Dark background, quartering wind, and a sunbeam blazed down and lit the geyser like it was in an art gallery. 😍

24 years ago, and so fresh in my mind. This made us all stand shoulder to shoulder as a nation, and also the world stood shoulder to shoulder with America.
Such a stark contrast to today. Will the sacrifice and pain of 911 just fade from our collective memory, to be replaced by hate and fascism?
