Since I haven't seen one yet, here's a starter pack of scientists actively working in the climate adaptation and resilience space, including researchers as well as climate service providers! 🌎🧪
We have reached the stage of atmospheric river where the skylight in my office leaks a slow, cold drip directly on my head.

(AP) — A federal judge has struck down President Donald Trump’s executive order blocking wind energy projects, saying the effort to halt virtually all leasing of wind farms on federal lands and waters was “arbitrary and capricious” and violates U.S. law.

The harm isn't just from the gross disinformation itself, but also resulting erosion of trust in federal science and guidance.

Rebuilding the latter will take far longer than correcting the former.
It appears that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has, within the past week, scrubbed a large amount of climate change content from its official website, as well as *removed human-caused warming* from the discussion on its "causes of climate change" page.

There are many alarming things in this thread about AI poisoning the information ecosystem, but also check out the publication timeline - lack of meaningful (or any) peer review at predatory journals guarantees slop like this will get through.
Let me tell you a story. Perhaps you can guess where this is going... though it does have a bit of a twist.

I was poking around Google Scholar for publications about the relationship between chatbots and wellness. Oh how useful: a systematic literature review! Let's dig into the findings. 🧵

It could take decades to recover from where we are.
My teen, who had dreamt of being an astrophysicist, just told me he wants to go to law school because, “Science isn’t going to be a priority in the US in the future…I don’t want a job where I’ll be constantly worried my funding will be taken away.”

Gutting. How many future scientists have we lost?

🎉🧪 Some rare GOOD news (🙃): the National Defense Authorization Act language that's just been released seems to have eliminated the "SAFE Research Act," which would have barred any scientist from federal funding if they had Chinese collaborations in the last 5 years rules.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

"All is lost" narratives are popular because people generally do not want to take action. Taking action is tiring so if all is lost, you are off the hook. Nothing is more seductive than not having to do anything.

This will raise how much you pay to drive your car for the next ten years. Every time you fill up at the pump, the price should've been lower, but it won't be, because of this. Also more kids and elderly people will get sick from air pollution. Analysis: Seems bad. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/03/c...

This is abhorrent.

It's also hard not to see this as connected to the administration's push to expand extractive industries, including oil and gas — the report identifies associated "man camps" as a significant contributing factor to MMIW, and recommends mitigating actions for federal leases.
