Namely the vision of boots on the ground with GWOT fresh in our minds. I don’t see that even as a remote possibility.

Way too much social media talk thinking we’re heading down that path.

Personally, I feel like talk of war is a bit overblown.

Ha! I was archiving these on the side and finally had enough on the 16th to come to the same result. Had I seen your post, I could’ve just called it quits.

The amount of “history being made” we’ve seen over the last 10 years (let alone 25-30) is enough for multiple lifetimes.

“Kyiv would have fallen in five hours if Putin’s tanks hadn’t gotten stuck in the mud,” Trump claimed.

Strange how that mud also burned down tanks, blew up fuel trucks, and stopped entire columns with Javelins and Molotovs.

Why not give credit to the Ukrainians who stood and fought back?

Interesting how the pro-Russia, World War III doomers are awfully silent at two nuclear powers currently battling it out…

I’ve yet to see any evidence suggesting this post, delivered to 6.3 million followers, is true.

Instead, just a deluge of misleading posts, misattributed photos, and other fake news saturating the info space.

In my opinion, it’s worse than Russia-Ukraine.

As with any conflict in the era of social media (or really anytime in human history) fog of war is a very real thing.

Consider your sources, verify.

T’was great to unplug for a week.

If they’re so ineffective, are you asking for sanctions relief as a ceasefire condition?

This is exactly the sort of thing that spins up big time Congressional investigations.

@Pete Hegseth if you think we should do it let's go.
I just hate bailing Europe out again.

Let's just make sure our messaging is tight here. And if there are things we can do upfront to minimize risk to Saudi oil facilities we should do it.

VP: I fully share your loathing of European free-loading. It's PATHETIC.
But Mike is correct, we are the only ones on the planet (on our side of the ledger) who can do this. Nobody else even close. Question is timing. I feel like now is as good a time as any, given POTUS directive to reopen shipping lanes. I think we should go; but POTUS still retains 24 hours of decision space.

As I heard it, the president was clear: green light, but we soon make clear to Egypt and Europe what we expect in return. We also need to figure out how to enforce such a requirement. EG, if Europe doesn't remunerate, then what?
If the US successfully restores freedom of navigation at great cost there needs to be some further economic gain extracted in return.

The good thing: this fake Charlie Hebdo cover got community noted.

The bad thing: the community note source is part of the Portal Kombat “Pravda” ecosystem…

Stage a ceasefire violation, pin it on Ukrainian troops, and hope the narrative sticks… all in the hope that the US would view Ukraine in acting in bad faith and perhaps permanently cut off support.

In the event of an “agreed” ceasefire - and given the long track record - I’d be particularly wary of Russian false flag events.
