Check out my latest post about the Nicollet Avenue bridge over the Midtown Greenway! It’s a small addendum to my pair of historical deep dive pieces from this past spring.

I visited the Upper Harbor Terminal late this afternoon now that a new path is completed. The site offers some incredible views, new access to the river, and I think is going to be a popular spot! www.mwmo.org/projects/upper-h...

arts_midwestMinnesota bikers are renowned for biking through sleet, snow, and cold weather. But these cyclists are bringing a different version of chill to bicycling: “party pace” rides, accompanied by a live DJ spinning from the back of a bike trailer. Throughout the spring and summer, hundreds of riders participate in these group rides, complete with pop-up dance parties on the streets of Minneapolis. It’s the brainchild of the Joyful Riders Bike Club and local bike shop Perennial Cycle. We love when creativity rolls through our neighborhoods, lights up the night, and brings people together in the most unexpected, joyful ways!Videographer: Ellie HohulinView all comments

Asphalt was laid out today at the West Lake Street Station at the junction of the Midtown Greenway and Kenilworth Trail! The concrete curbs are partially covered, but there's a bike roundabout in there!

I found a bunch of cool photos from the Hennepin County Library (Whittier Alliance Records collection) of the old Sheffield Elevator Company grain elevator. It stood between Harriet and Garfield Avenues along the 29th Street railroad (Midtown Greenway), now occupied by the Soo Line Garden.

Looooong lines to vote in Minneapolis precincts 10-1 and 10-2, probably about a 15 minute wait right now.

Here's another Nicollet Ave bridge over the Midtown Greenway demolition update. I caught the crew ending their day just after 6 PM this evening.

Nice, the Flux Apartments building on Girard Ave and the Greenway is draining their pool directly into the pedestrian path.

The Nicollet Ave bridge over the Midtown Greenway is just rubble at this point. They work fast! Photos from around 1 PM today.

I missed it from this summer, but it looks like in addition to a new Nicollet Ave bridge, the city approved new bridges at Pillsbury and 10th Aves for 2026, and Grand and 18th Aves in 2027. Lots of greenway closures coming up (but new safe bridges too) 😩

Midtown Greenway closure between 5th and Bryant has begun on schedule today, for Nicollet Ave bridge demolition. Please be careful on the detour, especially cycling westbound.

(If you can use the stairs at Stevens, it's only closed between Bryant and Stevens!)
