Badenoch's attempt at a rebuttal is being substantially undermined by all UK assets moving up on the day. the reality is they were cheap vs. peers and there hasn't been a disaster vs. very low expectations:

love it when young podcasters tell markets to calm down. not sure there's a better way to demonstrate your intrinsic lack of knowledge of how the real world actually works at the margin.

we deliberately went to the US to visit some National Parks before the 2024 election in case Trump won, since we knew we'd have no wish to visit if he got in again. swerving a $100 per head cover charge an unexpected win in hindsight:
The Interior Department has announced it will charge $100 per head for non-US residents to visit the most popular 11 national parks.

Stupid and self-defeating. Millions have visited those parks and left with with affection for America. No more, except those who can afford $400 per family per park.

UK reporting light, generally calm before the Autumn Statement at 12:30 - all UK assets were stronger yesterday including GBP (in-line with country peers), suggesting to me expectations have got low enough for a rally post event unless the ball is not just dropped, but turns out to be a grenade:

ha. Bloomberg TV reporting that Trump's bullshit lies about $21trn of investment into the US since he took office, is $7trn at best, with a lot of caveats whether that gets delivered anyway. Happy Thanksgiving.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

European equities want to believe a Ukraine/Russia resolution is near. at the sector level, obviously German defence names taking a kneejerk hit, but there's some even more wild stuff going on in the likes of Ferrexpo (+24%, Ukraine production) and the JP Morgan EMEA trust (+12%, Russian holdings):
