Last night I proposed our @bromleylabour.bsky.social shadow budget for Bromley Council.

Instead of another year of decline, failure & bad choices by the Conservatives we presented an ambitious, credible alternative- investing in Bromley’s long term and transforming public services, not cutting them

We won’t settle for year after year of cuts. The Tories continue to put the heaviest burden on the lowest income families and people who most need local services.

We’ll offer an ambitious programme that will actually transform council services. Here's how⬇️

We joined the Mayor, representatives of faith groups from across the borough and Councillors from all groups to remember the 6 million Jewish people and others murdered during the Holocaust and other genocides, and to make our shared commitment to honour their memory and strive for a better future.

Bromley Council want to introduce parking charges for disabled Blue Badge holders.

It will isolate some of our most vulnerable residents.

My letter to the Conservative Leader of Bromley Council asking him to stop these callous and ill-thought through plans ⬇️

We're proud of this statement from the Labour women, originating in Bromley and now spreading across South London.

We stand in solidarity with Jess Phillips and we are disgusted at the hateful comments towards her by Elon Musk and others.

“Tonight we come to Beckenham in southeast London…

This place was solidly Conservative, until this summer - when Labour took it with a thumping majority” 🌹🥳

Loved this opener from Question Time last night - and great to have it in Beckenham! #bbcqt

Shockingly, a Hayes & Coney Hall Conservative Councillor attending the 20 November meeting said he agreed with the installation of car park charges for bays and disabled bays.

Cllr Alisa Igoe said: “Charging for car parking would have dissuaded many people from visiting a much loved park, where so many healthy activities such as Park Run take place. The Conservatives were also intending to charge Blue Badge holders to park but have thankfully changed their minds.”

The decision follows Labour councillors challenging parking charges at Bromley's Environment Committee on 20 November, when all Conservative Councillors except one supported the plans.

Bromley Labour is delighted to hear that, following widespread public opposition, Bromley Conservatives have u-turned and decided not to add parking charges to the two free car parks at Norman Park.
