I'll never know what it feels like 2 live as a woman, but I have to assume (from what I see online) the presence of ANY man presents as a threat & that just sucks. No I'm not blaming women. Ijs it sucks.

..towards her. Whatever happened she seemed pretty spooked, & I could at least ascertain a man was involved (I think I know who actually, and it may have been as simple as his car blocking the entrance as it does some nights) but it saddened me a bit to know she didn't consider my actions vigilance

..I'm not so slow as to think we live in a world where black women are made to feel they can count on or trust black men but something in how I was raised made me feel as though I should protect her from whatever she'd previously encountered & the potential of police brutality.

Anyway, no hate..

..as far as I knew I was duty bound as a black man to watch over interactions between black women and police, not to mention if men in the neighborhood are harassing you I can be a line of defense, but she appeared offended at my presence, and while I understand she was already on edge its kinda sad

To which I reply: "Honestly I was just standing here for your safety and because I live here too...but I'll go inside" and went into my apartment.

So I come inside my apt building & police are there talking to my neighbor in the hall (she is a black woman) and I pause before going into my apt to listen and stand guard (we all live here after all, and I should know about the threat too right?)

She senses my presence and turns around and says..
