Tim Wakefield in 1995 was released by the Pirates and picked up by the Redsox. In his first 17 starts he went 14-1, with a 1.65 ERA. Finished the year at 16-8, leading them to a division title. He is 2nd in Sox history in games pitched with 590, pitching out of the bullpen and as a starter. RIP.

Happy 77th Birthday to Ben Oglivie who the Red Sox selected in the 11th round of the 1968 Draft. He played for Boston from 1971-73 appearing in 166 Games, hitting .235, with 10 HR’s, and a .650 OPS. The Sox traded him after the 1973 season he went on to hit an additional 225 HR’s.
