It’s on. See you in November.
Texas Republicans on Wednesday took the first step toward approving new congressional maps that would give their party as many as five new seats in the House of Representatives, spurring what’s likely to be a national battle over redistricting.

So proud!
Ridgecrest showed up. We had 288 people stand proudly together to say No Kings in America! We kept it peaceful and a vast majority of motorists supported us with positive honks every few seconds. For our red rural Navy town, that says a lot!

I am learning that my anxiety meds work only so far - it helped quell some of the insurance anxiety (oh, that's back again - I have got to figure out where I belong) for a while but now it's off the rocker again because of all this shit happening in America.

This makes me sad, when the top trends on Blue Sky are sports related. It's so obvious to me that the push to air sports on television was a way to keep people distracted from what's really happening in the world.

Made it out to the protest again today, this time with sign. Saw a woman with a sign that read Pissed Off Grandma. That gave me an idea

15 years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment.

Today, billionaire political spending is up 160-fold since that ruling.

We must overturn Citizens United.

Every day, it corrupts our politics and erodes our democracy.

So, I initially made a post about staying off FB, but I realized there are a lot of people still making very relevant Reels that I can share that my prior coworkers (an Evangelical and a hardcore born-again Christian) might actually watch and hopefully, it gets them thinking.

Oh gosh, even my new favorite hair care product - Wella - is off the table. My hair is such a wild child and is so picky. Ffs, I love their anti-static spray, it does wonders out here with the hard water and dry air.

But they don't want to hear about me when they are thinking about their families, their assets, and I don't blame them, I just want them to know they are not alone. We're all in this together, and not all of us are psychopaths. I guess this is the cost I pay to get paid. The struggle is real.

I wish there was something I could do, but I can't. I have nothing. I am just an Advisor giving out the bad news to those who rely on me. I don't know what to say to them when they tell me they can't afford this, or the cost to fire proof their homes. I know, because nor can I. I, too, live here.
January 18, 2025 at 10:58 PM
And, finally, I stare into the void of my heart, wondering why or how I can let this continue. It's been my career for almost 20 full years but this might just be the tipping point. It pains me that clients I've become familiar with are struggling, worse than I can remember.

3. One of the interviewee's says we need a more sustainable insurance model and to basically change our codes for better fire protection while the other says it's wrong the companies are putting profits over people. Both are valid, but the first is going to be VERY up-front costly.

2. Thank you for breaking down admitted vs. non-admitted carriers to the general public, something we now have to do regularly. Now try Rated by A.M. Best vs Not-Rated. Btw - Lemonade was not rated by A.M. Best the last time I checked.

A few things I feel the need to clarify about that CNN article though.

1. Those people didn't just lose their "wildfire insurance", no, they lost their Homeowner insurance - also known as HO3, providing coverage for fire, water, theft, liability, etc. perils as covered by their carrier.

Why couldn't I have been born a psychopath, I say as I read articles about people who can't afford to pay for insurance - or won't be able to soon - and will have to move.
But wait, I say, I have a heart and I FEEL for them. This insurance market is beyond tough. My mental health suffers.
