Significant winter storm unfolds this weekend. Impactful snow, high wind gusts, and brutal cold for this part of the world. Finish preparing tonight and do not plan on being on the roads this weekend.

Was hoping we’d get a blue box on a starter (Bassitt).

Blue box for winter storm canceling Braves Fest. But hey, here’s a starter.

Absolutely the right call, especially with the short-range models trending toward more snow (Cobb County just upgraded to the Winter Storm Warning).

After watching the NWS Atlanta briefing on the developing winter storm, it’s my opinion there is no way in hell Braves Fest can happen Saturday.

Wind chills in the teens with 25-30 mph wind gusts, temps falling through the 20s, snow sticking to roads, blowing snow potential … yeah, need to bang it.
I would think the extension of the Winter Storm Watch into most of Metro Atlanta - including Cobb County - puts the event in jeopardy.

Also: start thinking about what ya need if you’re home for a couple of days. Even 1 inch of snow with these temps is gonna make travel really difficult/not advised.
UPDATE: Braves Fest is still on at this point, but the organization is monitoring the weather situation for Saturday.

The Braves will send out email notifications (and I imagine post to socials) if anything changes.

Projected temp 10 a.m. Saturday at ballpark: 27°. Wind chill: 15°. Chance of snow.

Burn up most of the final 15 seconds left, down three, only to go to the rack for a layup to pull within one point with 0.6 to go.

Seriously, Dawgs?

Yep, we may be doing this again, folks. This is an incredibly difficult forecast with just subtle differences between nil/novelty event and significant winter storm.

Buckle up, stay informed, and yes, I know Braves Fest is Saturday. 🥶
