I don't care for either IPs but for Spider-Man I ended up really enjoying a bunch of the card designs. I really like the web-sling mechanic, especially the land and counterspell.

I expect I'll enjoy a dozen or so TMNT designs as well.

I don't think that's true. Even in the 4 cards you chose, I did a quick google search and found out Risky Research depicts the event that turns him into Doctor Octopus, Amazing Spider-Man #3.

Just like FF, I assume most story references will go unnoticed by non-comic readers, but they're there.

I'm not sure I understand this critique? Is FF not also just "what if Sephiroth was a Magic card?"

I think FF fit Magic better for a variety of reasons, but I can't see how it tells a cohesive story, it's literally a pile of references from across 15 different games.

Update: I made a bunch of Standard Brawl decks with the commander being a rare/mythic and the rest are all commons/uncommons. It's actually viable and a ton of fun!

Also can confirm Vivi isn't a problem. Everything is way more chill when you remove fast mana and extra turns.

I would happily play Standard Brawl but the idea of wasting all my remaining wild cards and then getting perma-queue'd into Vivis and Kefkas is not appealing in the slightest

I'd love to try that, but I have so few wildcards left that I'd be incredibly bummed if I spent all of them for a deck only to queue nonstop into Vivis and Kefkas and whatever else is top tier there.

2 regular decks. Rodrigo was on 7-Drops which has a gimmick but ended up being archenemy haha

Other two were 4C Omnath Eldrazi, and Ramos Charms.

First game of Premodern Hazezon at the LGS last night. Game was an absolute grindfest, over 2hrs!

Drew 39 cards by sac'ing Serra Avatar to Greater Good! Then when opponent's Ulamog exiled my library, I clung on by sac'ing Avatar to Diamond Valley to redraw it each turn. Almost had it! Great game!

That's not ideal but even that would be good enough for me. Gimme an up-to-date list of cards to avoid, I'll make it work. Just let me avoid the constant deluge of Green Turboramp, Ugin, Vivi, Kefka, etc.

I just wanted to complete my daily quest in Brawl with my very chill Clive deck, but I kept getting stomped by Tier 1 baddies. Vivi into Mythweaver Poq into Kinnan.

So fine, if I can't play chill games, I'll make the Tier 1 decks suffer instead. Rusko time.

I love the concept of Spider-Man Welcome decks: free starter decks you can get at your LGS to on-board new players into the game. Awesome!

However, I think it would be better if they weren't any exclusive new cards in them that cost $ (Miles is $25 atm) so more would go to new players not scalpers

Sibsig Ceremony is one of my favorite new cards. And not just because my boomer heart is nostalgic for my Heartless Summoning Standard deck of 2011

I love LOVE cards with downsides. So many of them end up being really interesting designs. I hope we see more of them!
