Interesting but questions:
1) Why use them at all if they don't meet the quality standards of the rest of the set? Are they forced to? Do people like these and the online buzz is just a loud minority?
2) Why not at least ensure that the text is more readable? Just a text box would be so much better

Someone in the #mtgjp community pointed out that a Weiß Schwarz card uses the EXACT same art of Toph; reinforces my theory.

I prioritize card designs and mechanics that resonate with me over flavor and Avatar is been a real treat for that so far.
BUT as someone who just rewatched the show, the fact that this card has really interesting mechanics AND perfectly captures "the exiled prince returned" is just perfect.

I've taken out Sol Rings from all my decks below bracket 4 years ago and I've never missed them.
I truly think the gameplay experience is better. I don't care if my opponents run it or not -- my decks still function fine!
