U.S. Representative for IL-13. Proud to serve the people of Central & Southern IL. New Democrat Coalition's Vice Chair for Policy.
Before he took office, President Trump vowed to cut power bills in half in 12 months. Instead, his reckless tariffs and war on clean energy have caused electricity prices to rise twice as fast as inflation. That’s unsustainable for working families who need to heat their homes this winter.

This week, I voted to repeal millions in taxpayer-funded payouts for Senate Republicans that they snuck into their partisan government funding bill. We can’t let this blatant corruption stand.
House votes to undo law allowing senators to sue over Jan. 6 subpoenas
The provision, which outraged House members, was tucked into a bill to reopen the government last week.

This is huge. While just a first step in a longer fight, this decision sets a precedent that will help us get long-overdue compensation for Metro East communities that have been impacted by radioactive waste. I'm happy to have played a small role in increasing awareness on this issue.
Metro East employees are first in Illinois to get workers' comp for radiation
While other former employees have been eligible under a federal program for more than $32 million in compensation, this set of employees has never tested positive for one of the 22 cancers required — ...

Earlier this fall, I joined a letter calling on President Trump to stop his plan to restrict eligibility for Social Security disability assistance and massively cut benefits. Today, I’m proud to say that our pressure worked.
Social Security scraps plan to limit disability benefits after uproar
The policy would have fundamentally altered who qualifies for the two federal disability programs by eliminating or limiting a person’s age as a factor to consider.
