Wooden groin (UK: groyne) on the island of Ameland in the province of Frisia (Friesland) in The Netherlands. The groin consists of a row of wooden poles, coming into the image from the bottom left. The image is made around sunset, with the low sun glowing behind a thin layer of clouds. Waves are rolling in, running over the wooden poles. In the foreground, ripples in the sand of the beach are visible.

The #Glow of the #Aurora Borealis at the Garður Old Lighthouse on the #Reykjanes Peninsula on #Iceland. Very cold outside, but this scene made me warm on the inside!

The Garður Old Lighthouse with the glowing Aurora Borealis beyond. From the left of the image, a path leads us to the lighthouse. The lighthouse is no longer in use, but is clearly visible even in low light because the new lighthouse, behind the viewer, is shining its light on it. A layered display of Northern lights, with spikes streaking up into the sky where a faint band of purple light is also visible. The Garður lighthouse is located on the Reykjanes Peninsula near the Keflavik airport on Iceland.

A view from #Henningsvær on the #Lofoten Islands in #Norway. The #Glow on the mountain provides a stark contrast to an otherwise dark looking scene. Seconds after making this image, it started raining heavily...

#BlueSkyArtShow #Henningsvaer #PhotographersOfBlueSky #LandscapePhotography #Landscape
A view from Henningsvær on the Lofoten Islands, Norway. Looking out over the sea towards a mountain with sharp peaks, glowing in sunlight. Meanwhile, the rest of the scene is covered in shadow and the sky is dark, creating a stark contrast between the glow of the mountain and the rest of the image. On the foreground, to the left, there's a tiny island. At the foot of the mountain in the background, you can see buildings, providing a sense of scale to the image. The glow on the mountain is reflected in the water, even though a clear reflection of the mountain itself cannot be distinguished. In the top right, a seagull flies into the scene.

Almost 13 years ago near #Gasselte, #Drenthe, #Netherlands. A glorious afternoon when after an entire day of rain the sun made its first appearance right before sunset.

A road through the woods near Gasselte, Drenthe, The Netherlands. After a day of rain, the sun made its first appearance about an hour before sunset. As a result, a fog quickly appeared, creating rays of light through the trees. The sunlight is coming from the left of the image. On both side of the road, trees are standing tall in their autumn foliage. Brown leaves are on the ground everywhere, but the road remans visible.

Hi! I remembered I used to have an online shop at Fine Art America. I re-enabled it and I have uploaded the aurora windmill image. It is now available on my shop here: fineartamerica.com/featured/win...

The futuristic looking building L'Hemisfèric in the City of Arts and Sciences in #Valencia, #Spain. The whole area, designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, is a wonderful place to visit.

The futuristic looking building L'Hemisfèric in Valencia Spain, photographed from the Pont de Montolivet.

From Wikipedia: L'Hemisfèric (1998) – an IMAX Cinema, planetarium and laserium. The building is meant to resemble a giant eye, and has an approximate surface of 13,000 m2 (139,931 sq ft). The Hemisfèric, also known as the planetarium or the "eye of knowledge", is the centerpiece of the City of Arts and Sciences. It was the first building completed in 1998. Its design resembles an eyelid that opens to access the surrounding water pool. The bottom of the pool is glass, creating the illusion of the eye as a whole. This planetarium is a half-sphere in a concrete structure 110 meters (360 ft) long and 55.5 meters (182 ft) wide. The shutter is built of elongated aluminum awnings that fold upward collectively to form a brise soleil roof that opens along the curved axis of the eye. It opens to reveal the dome, the "iris" of the eye, which is the planetarium or Ominax theater. The structure is divided in half by a set of stairs that descend into the vaulted concrete lobby. The underground spaces are illuminated with the use of translucent glass panels within the walking path. The transparent roof is supported by concrete arches that connect to the sunken gallery. There is a remarkable echo in the building and if two people stand at the two opposite pillars inside of the eye they can speak with each other.

Yes I have an online shop in the Netherlands with a selection of my photographs. The company that produces and ships them does not ship to the US unfortunately. But I can look for a US-based company that does the same. My Dutch shop is at ronbuist.werkaandemuur.nl

I also have some aurora images without a windmill 😛

It’s very rare in the Netherlands and I do live in a place where light pollution isn’t that bad. This image was on October 11 last year, when the aurora was visible all the way to to the south of the Netherlands as well.

I do edit my images and this usually involves brightening up the darker parts.

I did. This went on for a couple of hours and I kept running around the house to get different angles.

Beautiful shots. I like the silhouetted trees.

There are a lot less nowadays, but there are still quite a few around and many of them are still in working order. There’s an online database that mentions 1260 existing windmills in the Netherlands and 18043 windmills that no longer exist. There are 91 windmills in the province where I live.
buist.net
If you’re serious we could make that work. I’m assuming you’re in the US and I don’t have an online shop there yet but I’m willing to explore the options.

This is the scene right now. I know there are a lot of AI generated images out there but this is not one of them. The aurora did really happen and if you would like to see I can show you the unedited image. It’s photography and editing skills that made the aurora image…

I've shown images of the aurora borealis before, but this one, with my #Home on the left side, was really special as the northern light are normally not visible in The Netherlands.

#BlueSkyArtShow #aurora #auroraborealis #northernlights #photographersofbluesky #windmill #holland #groningen
Aurora Borealis is rarely visible in The Netherlands and when it is, it is usually limited to some purple hues right above the horizon. On this night however, the aurora was shining bright and high in the sky. The image shows a house and a windmill with a fence from the lower right corner leading the viewer to the windmill. Streaks of green to purple are in the sky, from the horizon all the way up to the top part of the screen. A typical Dutch scene, except for the aurora.

A gap in the clouds above the Tasman Tower apartment building in #Groningen, The Netherlands. The overall blue colours contrast really well with the warm tungsten lights shining from the apartment building.

#BlueSkyArtShow #Skyline #Groningen #Netherlands #water #reflection #photographersofbluesky
The Tasman Tower apartment building in Groningen, The Netherlands. Photographed during the blue hour, with the wind pushing the clouds away from our vantage point. The jetty and bollards, together with the movement in the clouds, bring a great sense of depth to the image. There is an opening in the clouds right above the apartment building and the (tungsten) colours shining through the windows of the apartments match very well with the deep blue colours in the sky. The clouds are very thick, giving the whole scene an ominous look.

The #Skyline of rural #Groningen near #Warfhuizen. Watchtower 701 was part of a nation-wide network of such towers, built during the 50s to detect enemy fighter jets. Defunct since the 60s, only a few remain.

Why does my post say “throng” instead of “through”? Don’t know but I’m blaming autocorrect… 🙂

I think in this image, Luca is already making the move from F4 to E5 (with the front right already in E5), but real chess players feel free to correct me 🙂

#Pieces of the formidable landscape in the #Glencoe valley are illuminated by the early morning sun, its light finding ways throng the cracks in the clouds. I think one of the mountains in this shot is Meall a' Bhùiridh; please correct me if I’m wrong.

Snow on the peaks of the mountains in Glencoe. We are following river Etive as it meanders towards the mountains. A low hanging cloud is passing by the mountain. Pieces of the landscape are illuminated by the early morning sun, finding its way through the cracks in the clouds.

Stunning! I’ve seen a few of your drone shots now and they are all wonderful. I have a DJI mini 4 pro which will go up to 120 meters. Is that high enough for shots like this or do you need to get higher?
