The giant “star” over 5th Ave and 57th St is the UNICEF Snowflake. First installed in 1984, it’s now one of the largest outdoor crystal chandeliers in the world, over 16,000 crystals, weighing more than 3,000 lbs. When it lights up, Christmas officially hits Fifth Avenue.
