With more confirmations coming in about what happened at Meta and it becoming clear that VR gaming is no longer a priority for them, it feels right to acknowledge Camouflaj and the talented people who worked there.

According to a tweet by Ludvig Forssell, the track "Regret and Acceptance" from the MGSV Extended Soundtrack is made from excerpts of music that didn't make it into Episode 43, "SHINING LIGHTS, EVEN IN DEATH".

Meta shuts down Armature Studio, Sanzaru Games, and Twisted Pixel as it continues scaling back VR game development. Camouflaj, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Shadow, is safe for now, but with Meta shifting focus to smart glasses, the long term outlook for first party VR games remains unclear.

I'm hearing some really disheartening news that Camouflaj, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Shadow, may have been completely laid off, including Ryan Payton and Matt Walker, despite reports saying otherwise.
Heartbreaking news if true. This team poured everything into that game.

Why am I just learning this?

I love Snatcher and Metal Gear MK II is always bolted together in the end to whatever game system you were playing the game on.

On page 043 of the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain issue of CGWORLD, a screenshot of the cutscene event editor is shown on a frame of the opening cutscene of Episode 11: HELLBOUND. As opposed to the final game, the spotlight behind Skull Face here is red, and not white.

Early footage and dev materials from Project Apollo, the canceled Nolanverse Batman game by Monolith Productions (2009–2010), have surfaced online, shared by MrTalida on BlueSky.

The material includes early gameplay tests, adaptive audio systems, character work, and Tumbler Batmobile footage.
I've recovered a cache of documents and videos from the pre-production phase of Project Apollo, a canceled Batman game Monolith worked on for Warner Bros.

The materials, from 4/2009 to 1/2010, were in deleted sectors of a HDD used at a game company.

Lastly, here's a series of videos showing the progress Monolith had made on the tumbler batmobile sections. AFAIK, the previous leak didn't show any tumbler footage, so this may be our first peek.

You can see how the feature progressed from Oct 2009, to Nov 2009, to Jan 2010.

Enjoy the files!

More early Project Apollo audio systems videos. This one shows how audio changes with Batman's vertical position.

A variety of early development videos demonstrate dynamic audio systems that would react to the player's situation and smoothly transition music. It's the sort of thing that makes a world of difference but we rarely consciously notice! 4/9

Most of these materials are from a series of internal-facing and Warner Bros.-facing pre-production milestone deliverables.

Some of the very few files from an actual build are Bink video files. Here's a surviving video fragment of a cinematic:

We're at a point where all communication on the net is being boiled down to binary thought. People WANT human connections, they want unfiltered expression; but when you ask people's opinions it's simply too much work. Like we've all checked out mentally. "Oh, you wanna know my OPINION huh? Fuck off"

Tonight's Metal Gear Monday stream will be in two parts:

First, a brief return to Delta to check out this face swap mod for Snake Metalgear's father: Snake Plisskin! Kurt Russel! Can't wait to see how it pairs with the voice!

After that, we're playing Snatcher :)
