Lots of people will try to do the right thing, but we've made the costly mistake of relying on an honor system. Then it just takes one greedy trick or treater to ignore the sign and take the entire bowl of Reese's cups.

They sometimes strike gold and can't comprehend why the thing is a success, like when Batman '89 was a hit, so studios decided it meant people really like movies about characters from the 1930's, and we got The Phantom, Dick Tracy, etc.

There's appears to be a lack of respect from upper management, shareholders, politicians, etc. for anything feminine/childlike or perceived as such (animation, manga, toys, etc.). I'm guessing getting into that kind of role makes one allergic to whimsy.

When most people complain "they can't do that in movies anymore" they're almost always talking about not being allowed to be racist or some shit.

When *I* complain about it, it's because no one would be brave enough to make an alien just smoke a cigar like it's a normal thing and not commented on.
