My family fled the rise of a dictator in cuba when I was a baby.

My parenta were lifelong republicans 'cuz of JFK and the Bay of Pigs.

They supported Nixon and Heritage 'cuz thats what conservatives did.

They were good people.

They'd be appaled to see how the GOP has served up racistism.

This morning we witnessed an ICE action on our block.

This afternoon I saw this woman standing where it happened.

She was still there this evening.

I took her a bottle of water and asked her if she was standing vigil.

She looked at me with pain on her eyes and said "It's all I can do"
