Turns out Richard Ashcroft had it all wrong. The drugs really do work. #sinner #swiatek #wimbledon.

Way to go, Martin! So wonderful to see this published. You really stuck at it. An important paper.

📣 Latest from the lab: Performance of deep-learning-based approaches to improve polygenic scores www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Its thought deep learning will substantially improve PGS but the reality is MANY have tried but no/little gain has been seen so far. Here we report our negative results.

The latest preprint from our lab, led by the amazingly talented Lucia Ramirez Navarro.

Do circulating immune cells capture the transcriptomic signatures of their counterparts in the inflamed gut? No, except for a rare population of T cells expressing tissue residency markers.

🚨 SUPER EXCITED to share our new preprint on the mucosal and circulatory immune landscape of Crohn’s disease!

🩸 Blood is commonly used in biomarker discovery and drug development, but how well does it reflect what's actually happening in the gut? 👀

Well, I can’t say that I’m overly disappointed to see the back of 24. But I’m very excited to see what 25 brings. I sense it will be an exciting one. Hoping that the world ends it in a better place than it begins.

Well, today was absolutely awesome! So much for Friday 13th being unlucky.

Also, I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to the wonderful Carla Jones Bell from the Trynka lab at Sanger for doing so much of the supervisory work. Folks may well be shocked to hear that my lab has done a co-culture experiment, and so you should be - it was all expertly led by Carla. Thank you!!

Massive congratulations to Harriet Banks who successfully defended her PhD thesis this afternoon. Harriet’s thesis explored biological mechanisms underlying anti-TNF response in a T-cell/macrophage Co-culture model using scRNAseq. #veryproudsupervisor

Common variants don’t contribute to rare diseases, right? Wrong! Wonderful work published in Nature by @hilarycmartin.bsky.social, Qinqin Huang, @emiliewigdor.bsky.social and others in the Human Genetics Programme at Sanger showing that common vars contribute to rare neurodevelopmental diseases.

My group's work dissecting the contribution of common variants to rare neurodevelopmental conditions is now out at nature.com/articles/s41..., led by co-first authors Qinqin Huang (not yet on blue sky) and @emiliewigdor.bsky.social . See below for Emilie's tweetorial.

Great way to end a fun day. Spent my whole day working closely with my team on our science, and now I’m at a Brownies campfire with my daughter.

Oh man. I just lost my streak on #duolingo. I was almost at 365 days (358 I think). I’m way more gutted about this than I expected to be! 🥺

Well, this is a breath of fresh air. There is something really exciting about this blank slate. Hello BlueSky!
