This doesn't surprise me, but it does make me sad. In authoritarian times we are going to see even more anti-vegan sentiments. But how will they get their dead flesh from cows when according to the NYTimes, the price of mammal muscle has caused restaurants to be in "code red" mode?!

Stange for someone who is opposed to killing to be called a "die" anything. When I think about it, I've met a lot of diehard non vegans--So angry! So desirous of pummeling me with their words. So upset to realize that eating slaughtered animals says something about their morals.

Isn't it a thoughtless term, "diehard vegan"? If it means someone committed to not eating or using animals for food, what vegan isn't diehard? Or does this lazy adjective function as a boundary keeper, like "Lord don’t let me be seen as a diehard! I’m just a good vegan, one who doesn’t make waves!"?

Our piece is here. Our core argument is that a) it's very hard to determine the "sexual preference" of animals and b) the issue here is less violence against "gay animals," but rather that this case shows the schism between profitable and unprofitable animals.
