New quilt! All made of home-dyed cyanotypes, with plants I collected.

It’s been about 2 years in the making, and I’m so pleased with how it’s coming out.
Oh hey! It’s me!

New article now available and Open Access.

Fact-checking doesn’t really work. If we want to understand what misinformation does, ethnography is super useful.

Come for the discussion of windmills and Elon Tweets, stay for the talk of the “Afrikaner Refugees.” It’s a wild time.

No handover to the US will happen at the G20. Instead, the US delegation can come get the materials if they make an appointment, after Monday.

"We will follow protocols. We expect Washington to follow the same rules followed by all G20 states."

I want to know who was the first person to think of clipping a full panel curtain to the side of a crappy folding table to make it look ~*fancy*~

because that right there is a MONEY idea.

TIL that AI doesn’t really know what Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer, or Elizabeth Warren look like…

…it is an interesting collection of Dems to choose, tho…
The extremely mentally ill President of the United States just posted this on his money losing garbage Truth Social app.

Parenting cheat code:

My kids have been squabble monsters all weekend. Just getting at one another constantly.

I *forbade* them from playing with each other. “Everyone to their own corners!”

And now they are sneakily cooperating on something and they think I don’t know.

It’s perfect.

The absolutely differing levels to commitment on Doodle Polls/WhenToMeets is wild to me.

"Are you available?" is for some folks an analogue to "I have no immediate conflicts" while for others it is "that is not time I prefer to be working"

I love how when a guy is smart and rude it is “oh, he’s a *genius*” and when a woman is smart and rude it’s always “oh, she’s a bitch.”

I’m not here to defend rudeness, but I AM here to call out the double standard.

I just don't really see the need for more "live action remakes" of things that were cartoons in the first place.

can we not?

Forgot both my clicker and my water bottle in my office when I went to teach.

Chuckled to myself “F**k it! We’ll do it live!”

Then realized that reference is a decade older than basically all of my students, and crumbled into dust.

The more I think about it, the more incensed I am by the public obligations versus teaching framing here.

As if teaching isn’t a fundamental public action.

What, like it’s hard?

I am thinking about this video in the context of the Summers/"I will continue to teach, but step back from public life" statement.

The problem is NOT that high status people are being punished. The problem is that they hold and leverage deeply held prejudice.

For people who have written a second academic book...a question:

How far into writing/research did you start to circulate a proposal and get presses interested?

Half way? Once it was mostly written? Way before that?

THIS PART.
I wish that were true, but in most cases I’ve experienced or witnessed of verbal abuse like this, especially from a powerful man, it’s rare that anyone says anything

TIL that this asshole is still teaching.

Still “mentoring” students.

But then again, so many like him are. We should hardly be surprised.
Larry Summers statement in full…. It’s not clear that this actually changes anything about his status at Harvard or OpenAI.

My article: 2 years and 7 different reviewers/multiple R&R's (all at the same journal). Just got an invitation to revise AGAIN.

Meanwhile, I've done 2 reviews on time and in full for them.

Tell me again how peer review works, because I'm just not seeing it.
