A thread, from this Queer pastor to Queer folk.
To my Queer and Trans siblings:

As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as one ordained and set apart for the office of pastor in Christ’s Church, I do not care what our government says. This president can sign any executive order he wants, but that doesn’t change this truth: God made you. 1/8

I just finished this book and I must say it was quite good. Some of Dr. Tanner’s arguments felt a bit overdrawn, but I think the main thesis is quite strong: that modern queerphobia has ancient roots in wealth inequality.

Gosh, I love this Bible. It goes with me everywhere and has been my “One” since given to me by my husband in 2022. It has never been used before I got it. All wear and tear seen on it was caused by yours truly!

It is the HarperCollins Study Bible in black genuine leather. Very rare in very OOP.

The crucifixion of Jesus by the Romans in Jerusalem and the lynching of blacks by whites in the United States are so amazingly similar that one wonders what blocks the American Christian imagination from seeing the connection.

An Israeli surveillance drone was seen hovering over mourners in a Kfar Kila graveyard, southern Lebanon, as they paid their respects. Israel has escalated its use of drones as psychological warfare, often broadcasting military messages to intimidate locals.

I’m thankful to @baptistnews.com for publishing the article I wrote about my solidarity trip to Palestine. “Mitri Raheb told me Palestinians need more Baptists standing up for them; and maybe by seeing for yourself, you can join me in being a Baptist for a free Palestine.”

In response, a group of activists in Silwan began to paint giant murals of eyes all over the neighborhood as symbols of solidarity,

If you claim to believe in a liberationist Christianity, and if you think Palestine is “too complex” and/or “too complicated” to outright call a genocide a genocide and settler colonialism as settler colonialism, you do not actually believe in a liberationist Christianity.

On this International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Never Again means Never Again For Anyone. End the apartheid of the West Bank. End the genocide in Gaza.

Just a reminder that ICE is trained by the IDF. What we see happening in America is straight from the IDF’s playbook—specifically its playbook for the West Bank. If you oppose ICE, you must in good conscience oppose the IDF.

My hot take is that the lectionary is useful for certain seasons (Advent and Lent in particular) but is constricting in others. Preachers should feel free to have sermon series based on the life of Moses, or David, or from First Peter, and so on.

And Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling and those who were buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves, and he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. —Mark 11:15-16
