On the same day CSIRO announced it was cutting 350 jobs, the Australian newspaper ranked the country's top 250 researchers and institutes by field.

Don't mean to yuck yums but... Citations and metric ranking feels like a bad idea folks!!!!! 🧪

Okay slightly late, but The Paper is good. I do admit my bias in adoration of Domnhall Gleeson. But the cast overall plays a great range of characters. It's not just a redo of The Office - you can't specifically pin a character type from one to the other. Recommended watch.

If universal healthcare means being able to access care without financial burden, what proportion of the population that delays seeking healthcare due to cost means we no longer have UHC?
Because apparently 7.7% of Australians postponed/avoided seeing the GP because of cost

CSIRO 350 job cuts a damning indictment on Government priorities, misses 'golden opportunity' on research
The announcement this week that CSIRO are to cut 350 research jobs is another damning indictment on Australia’s ongoing failure to prioritise research and development.

Today @who.int released their 2025 #tuberculosis report, and figures remain unacceptable: 1.2 million children and young adolescents fell ill in 2024, and a staggering 43% were never diagnosed and thus missed lifesaving treatment. Act now to close the deadly gap!
