I know that Thanksgiving is very painful for many people for various reasons, but I hope everyone is able to find a little bit of peace today.

Tonight is the biggest bar night of the year, so please remember: if you don’t have to go out after dark tonight, don’t! And if you’re out drinking, CALL A FUCKING UBER. Don’t spend the holidays dead.

Definitely thought this was going to be like, “Don’t let your dad guilt-trip you into writing a Thanksgiving poem” or, “No, it’s none of your copycat aunt’s business what your characters are doing.” Instead, it’s great advice for personal essaysists/memoirists.

Just forgot the word for antique and ended up using old timey in a Google search instead. It worked, though.

Honestly, imagine being ridiculous enough to try to take on Mark Kelly. He served in the US Navy during the Gulf War. He has a BS and an MS. He was a for-realsies NASA astronaut who spent more than 54 days in space. He's a US Senator. He stayed with his wife after she was shot in the head.

The Fred Hill Drill Team is coming back to the Detroit Thanksgiving parade, and I am so hype. It’s been 84 years. (Fine, it’s only been 11.)

Because I’m working on Small Business Saturday and may not get a chance to do any shopping myself, I have chosen to support a small business in advance. I encourage all of you to show your best selves on Saturday and show some love for local stores!

Boyfriend and I were with his two friends who have a baby the other night, and I realized pretty quickly that I was talking to the baby the same way I talk to my dog—”you’re so cute! Yes you are!”s and “you’re just a baby”s abounded.

Post a movie where you’re from.

Hell, I’ll give you two: one for each part of my two-part state.

I am skeptical, and of course I want consumers to support actual bookstores, but Alibris sells used books, and it’s nice that they’ll be keeping books out of landfills, unlike Shein’s own fashion products. If only they would change their whole business model for the better.
Shein Expands into Bookselling with Alibris Partnership
Ahead of the holiday shopping season, the used books retailer will offer more than 100,000 book titles across a variety of genres, as well as “affordable textbooks,” through Shein’s U.S. marketplace.

I can’t even bring myself to read this article, because Noe’s choice of quotation from it is almost too much for me to handle (though I thank him for summarizing nicely).
"Countries with state subsidies for abortion, transgender-friendly policies for children, hate speech laws and affirmative action policies will now be considered to be violating human rights under rules imposed at the [US] State Department..."

Call him what he is: a child killer who is incapable of telling the truth about reliable scientific data.
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.
