'measles outbreak at the child prison' seems entirely avoidable, it's really the kind of thing that only happens if you do several unthinkably evil things on purpose all at once

Today's story by @hallielieberman.bsky.social is a perfect example of what sets RNG apart from other outlets. Where else can you read about the FDA's new campaign targeting manufacturers and retailers that sell chest binders, compression garments used to minimize the appearance of breast tissue?

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

From Argentina’s dictatorship to today’s ICE raids, mothers have turned grief into resistance.

Terrifying.

And of course, that’s the point.
Georgia Fort, an independent journalist and vice president of the Minnesota NABJ chapter, was also arrested by federal agents this morning

I was sent this video of agents at her door:

I don’t know whether I’m obsessed with asap and Rihana or whether instagram just thinks I am, but I am starting to think that is a distinction without a difference.

It’s overwhelmingly awful out there, which is why I kept thinking about how Argentines resisted & outlasted a brutal dictatorship to restore democracy & get justice for the dead. It’s a hard read but I think a heartening one.

As Laura Tedesco writes, it matters how people respond to state terror.
Moms who resist can change history.

In Argentina, state terror inspired mothers to “became a potent force in resisting authoritarianism and ultimately restoring democracy,” according to a political scientist who lived through the dictatorship in her native country.
How government killings and kidnappings in Argentina drove mothers to resist and revolt − and eventually win
After the regime ‘disappeared’ their children, Argentina’s Madres de la Plaza de Maya relentlessly demanded justice – and exposed the atrocities of a dictatorship.

Bridgerton season is upon us.
Bridgerton fans are getting hyped to step into a new season tomorrow—but can the show improve its depiction of consent? The romance genre has long grappled with how to show people mutually agreeing to sex, and Bridgerton has a chance to improve upon its source material.
How 'Bridgerton' and Other Romances Have Evolved in Their Depictions of Consent
Bridgerton's fourth season is an opportunity for the show to improve its source material’s portrayals of consent.

“In both its use of masks and its brazen disregard for proportionality, ICE evokes in me unsettling memories of all-powerful, authoritarian governments that exercise control over life and death.”
After Renee Good's killing, I kept thinking about Argentina -namely, how moms became a potent resistance force when the dictatorship started "disappearing" their kids. I asked an authoritarianism scholar who survived that regime what the U.S. could learn. It's hard reading but, I think, heartening.

Not seeing nearly enough Don Quixote jokes on here. Just bc fruit is low-hanging doesn’t mean it isn’t ripe!
Trump: "There are windmills all over Europe. There are windmills all over the place. And they are losers. One thing I've noticed is that the more windmills a country has, the more money that country loses, and the worse that country is doing. I haven't been able to find any wind farms in China."

Falsos positivos, edición Minnesota.
ICE is getting bonuses for bringing in people, even citizens who are eventually released. That's why they pick up anybody they can. Catch and release is paid.

Where are the Epstein Files? We were told there would be Epstein Files, and the DOJ isn't doing anything about them breaking the law.
