"Too often we avoid confronting injustices by calling them controversies and side with the powerful majority with our silence. We are concerned lest we offend those with power—but what about the harm our silence is to those without power?" 🧵2

If you’re free on October 9th at 6:30 PM EST you should join me on zoom with @catherinemcniel.bsky.social & Jason Hague for a chat about their book “Mid-Faith Crisis”

I have found so much encouragement from the book & I think anyone going through periods of doubt & discouragement will too

I am super excited to chat with @catherinemcniel.bsky.social & Jason Hague about their book mid-crisis Faith on zoom at 6:30 est on 10/9. Anyone can feel free to join the conversation. I love this quote as it’s a reminder that Jesus never changes even when the church gives a false perspective.
“Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”

Matthew 11
When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

Jesus replied...
Oh Andrea. Thank you. I need to hear that every now and then.
Take a deep breath, friends.
You are loved with an everlasting love.
Me too. I've been on the lookout for ones that felt right in a sea of pain.
Thank you for reading and engaging!
Oh I agree with you! I think the author of the article was trying to represent the way certain people view the situation, not represent the way the situation actually is.

There were a few disclaimers I considered making but decided to just let it stand.
For the past week I've deeply pondered what to say in the midst of so much pain. This article, which I did not write, reflects all the words I was pondering.

Whether you revered or resisted this man, would you read this short reflection? There is wisdom here we deeply need.

We are remembering two different Charlie Kirks
The way we see Charlie Kirk, his life and death, and indeed, nearly everything, is determined less by the facts than by our personal paradigms. Less by the truth than by our algorithms. This past w…

Such a good question.

Shows I didn't like as much as everyone else:

Ted Lasso

Okay. Let's say I get a month of Netflix. What movies and shows should I prioritize that month?
Do not take revenge, my dear friends...on the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

(Romans 12)
This friends. This. We absolutely must refuse to allow violence even in our language. We cannot go on insisting that our neighbors are our enemies. There is no future for any of us in this direction.
Imagine how different church history and Christian identity would be if, over the centuries, we kept angry men and disputing men out of our congregations with even half the commitment that we've kept women out of leadership?
For how often 1 Timothy 2 is taken out of context to limit women's involvement in Christian community, it's funny how most people don't highlight what 1 Timothy 2 says about angry men and disputing men.

Well, I said I was middle-aged, not old. 😂

I would say it repeats often and rhymes always.

That's interesting, because ring slings are the only ones I was ever able to figure out! The others were a mystery to me.
I'm old enough to remember when vaccine suspicion was a left-wing conspiracy theory.

That was before it became a right-wing conspiracy theory.

One of the worst things about being middle-aged is knowing firsthand just how much suffering is caused by foolishness.
Oh, thanks for posting this. I enjoyed the alt accounts for the first few years, though I was skeptical. When they started posting codes messages that people commented on and shared I unfollowed. But I was so curious what people THOUGHT was happening. I'll listen!
