Celebrating the unveiling of the Seven Saxon Kings embroideries at All Saints Kingston today, followed by an address by the wonderful Tom Holland explaining why Athelstan is a seminal character in English history. What a wonderful afternoon for a history buff. #Athelstan1100 #history

Visited these gorgeous bears yesterday at Wildwood Devon wildlife park near Ottery St Mary. They did not disappoint. Well worth a visit! 🐻❤️

Two sibling bears named Mish and Lucy escaped their enclosure at Wildwood Devon wildlife park in England after a staff member accidentally left a door open. The bears wandered into the kitchen area, where they devoured fruit, vegetables, and a whole week's worth of honey before falling asleep.

Happy birthday, Emily Brontë, author of Wuthering Heights etc. Alongside her sisters, Charlotte and Anne, Emily left an important legacy to literature.
As good a reason as any to re-share guest Time Tunneller @miriamhalahmy.bsky.social 's video on the #Brontës!

Just putting it out there in the universe

I suspect lots of young people will be wanting to read about girls football following the Lioness’ latest success. I have written lots of books in this genre

Also - for any editors interested, I would always love to write more 😂

It seems this suffering will never end. Will we remain hungry until we die, or will we try to escape the bombing while we are hungry? Please, we need you to stay alive. repost so the world can hear our voice.

Does this book remind anyone else of Jonathan Livingston Seagull? Inspirational self-help as fiction. No wonder it’s sold so many copies!

For 14 months our partners PARC ran the only disability-friendly displacement camp in Gaza. A lifeline for 68 families which was forced to close.

They were forced to close the camp. Now in a new area but have nothing, no shelter, no toilet facilities, nothing.

World leaders MUST act to put a stop to this

Across Gaza, Palestinians are being treated as a people without rights—routinely displaced, attacked & killed. Unless world leaders act decisively now to stop these attacks, they will be effectively abandoning Palestinians to die.

Israel’s evacuation notice for Deir al-Balah is catastrophic for an already beleaguered population trying to stave off hunger & malnutrition.

Last time I was at @samreadbookseller.bsky.social I bought this extraordinary novel set in Grasmere during WW2 and written during the war before the outcome was known. Haunting. I think, from your posts, that you’d enjoy it!

This is great news. I thought Kick was a brilliant book. Well written, great characters, with a strong ethical message arising naturally from the story. And about football. We need more books like this. ❤️

Beautiful view of the City of London from Hays Galleria. Enjoying a drink with a view after leading a 3 hour guided walk in the City and Borough on a very hot day.

Libraries are one of the rare places children have CHOICE without gatekeepers saying “aren’t you too old for that”/“how about a PROPER book” etc. Choice drives reading for pleasure. If we truly care about reading for pleasure, we have to protect our libraries.

Great selection, thank you! Fascinated by the colour palettes used on these covers - lots of a particular tone of red and blue. My new MG historical adventure The Great Bear Breakout is out next year, so I want to make sure the cover appeals as much as these clearly do.

Your talk really resonated with me so thank you. I am regularly asked into a local school by the history dept to talk to Y7s about historical fiction - my favourite school visits. I always tell them that reading histfic will help them feel at home in a period when they meet it in the curriculum.

The denials defy belief:
There’s no famine in Gaza.
There’s no problem with GHF’s aid distribution process.
IDF soldiers do not target aid seekers.
Evidence tells us otherwise and denials don’t change that. Only independent investigation will reveal the full truth. Let’s have it.
