Maybe we should try the same old scene.

Uneventful is very underrated.

Has anyone found 2025 any good? It's been a horror story for me and most people I know. Will be glad to see the back of it.
This year is beginning to seem endless.

Finished Lolly Willowes. That was quite the wild ride. Think I'll palate cleanse with something contemporary before I move on to STW's nuns one. Lord knows how weird that's going to be.

Since I deleted my account and stuck with here, I've pretty much forgotten about Twitter. Once it changed owners and name, that was it for me. It had long stopped being what it was.

The dry robe (type thing) I bought for next year's resolution of regular open water swimming has done fantastic double duty as a raincoat these past torrential days.

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to having an oven with a working temperature control. Roll on the end of January.

My failsafe festive tray bake which is cheap and very easy but somehow impresses everyone (thanks to this lady who sent it to woman's weekly (?) at least 30 years ago.) #baking

Took me years to stop cooking for four. Now I'm rediscovering just how quickly 4 adults get through food.

Managed 45 minutes before I gave Merv the swerve. Just felt false and flat.

Spinach. 3 kilos cooked down = 3 tablespoons.

Red cabbage. A mere quarter will feed 12 people for a fortnight.

Potatoes. 5 kilos roasted won’t be enough for 4.

Vegetable maths.

Both cats shot under the sofa as soon as their travel box was opened and I have yet to see them. Oh well. They're here for at least two weeks.

I'm not a fan of "best of" booklists at this time of year, but I loved this, writers sharing the books they love to give friends & family as gifts. Is a River Alive? & The Man Who Planted Trees are two of my faves. #booksky #reading

I've had to bookmark this. It has me in hysterics.
This video is trending in France and i share it bc it's so funny
She says that she'll leave Morocco for some time to go back to France and she founds no one to take care of her dog, the people who had him before said no, it's unclear why

I should be doing something more productive with my last few hours with the house to myself until February.

I was born with a Scandi stomach. Hate eating late.
Norwegians in Spain and Spaniards in Norway must feel sooo out of place.

“A large national trial of about 46,000 women, 40 to 74 years old, found that the stratified approach to screening worked as well in detecting tumors as universal yearly screening, and in fact lowered the chance that cancers would not be found until they were at a more advanced stage”

“The study randomly assigned 14k women to be screened based on their ind risk, while 14k women continued w/routine annual mammograms. Other participants recruited for the study who didnt want to be rndmly assigned…were allowed to choose their screening approach; **89% chose risk-based screening**”🧪🛟
“We’re still screening the way we did in 1980s,’ [Dr. Laura Esserman, the study’s lead author] said.
‘Every time a celebrity has breast cancer, we hear the message that ‘screening every yr starting at 40 is what’s going to save you.’ But it doesn’t necessarily find those who are at highest risk’.”🧪🛟

Daughter spotted Ben Stokes walking past her in Noosa. She sent a video of what she claims is him walking away. I wouldn't know him from Adam and I would post for your opinion were it not for her comments on the sound.

This was on the returns shelf at the library, so I just thought I'd give it a quick blitz through. More questions than answers, I suspect.

Kind of an Adam Kay thing only for anaesthesiology with added harrowing covid, just to remind us of how brave, hardworking and burned out ICU staff were. A fast, humane read. #booksky

Beautifully written and I so wish I'd read this before the days at my mother's death bed. Most of us will have this to do at some point and I urge you to read it.
