It's been a tough year for writers. For all creators. And as most of us are freelancers, it can be scary to admit when things aren't going well. You don't want to appear like a failure, even when you're just fighting an industry you can't control. (1/2)

And we're not supposed to talk about our time in the doldrums, not supposed to complain or whinge too much about our bad days, not supposed to talk about the losses. We are only supposed to show the highlight reels, to make it seem as if we are always riding the crest, grateful and buoyant.

Day three of my new novel and that's my writing done for the week, onto creative consultancy work tomorrow.
Happy with how it's gone so far. Only 800-odd words short of the 15k goal I set myself.
They're REALLY rough, but they're done, meaning they can be edited into shape! #amwriting

Because it's not polished in any way. Other people call this the vomit draft. I just plunge ahead, writing without stopping to edit a single thing. Only when I reach the end will I go back and start shaping it.

Just seen someone online banging on about how everyone making the new Frankenstein forgot it was supposed to be a horror movie. I would say, no, they didn’t forget because this version was never supposed to be a horror. It’s a gothic romance.
