Watched the #KnightoftheSevenKingdoms trailer, looks like a lighthearted enough alternative to the main Westeros shows. Not read the books, so was surprised, but also realised it makes total sense that Egg is as bald as Solas.

Retirement must get boring, but is funny after they went all out with his role in Sonic 3 to make sure he'd be interested enough to come back.

Then again, Spielberg did produce The Flintstones movie...

But hoo boy do I hope with lockdowns and the strikes behind us, less major shows will take so long to produce another season.

What's that, more strikes might happen because execs can't stop stroking themselves over so-called AI?
cctabet.bsky.social
I think shooting the last two seasons back-to-back was a good idea, I'm curious if more shows with adult leads will follow suit.

The Pope is apparently teaching us Spanish and about Chicago baseball teams today.

Someone in the crowd: “Go Cubs!”

Pope Leo XIV: “Han perdido! They lost!”

Yeah, nothing comes up for anything.

In complete seriousness, what does the government think this will do in terms of suppressing pro Palestinian sentiment long term? In fact it seems like it would only further concretize the tenacity of those who feel so strongly.

A British couple who are members of a grassroots pro-Palestine organisation which had its bank account frozen have had their joint personal account closed without explanation.

John Nicholson, 70, and Norma Turner, 76, barrister and nurse, received no explanation. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Aftonbladet's interview with Greta Thunberg is now available in English - it raises many serious questions, not least about the Swedish govt. effectively abandoning its citizens to torture because it doesn't agree with their politics. A thundering disgrace.

Oct 15th - Twin brothers Elijah “Smoke” and Elias “Stack” buy a rundown sawmill, and start transforming it into one hell of a juke joint

📽️📅 Sinners (2025)
4 Screenshots from the movie "Sinners" (2025): First, a black screen with the text "Clarksdale, Mississippi October 16, 1932." Second, an interior of a church with attendees in white clothing, a man stands silhouetted in the doorway with a cross visible above. Third, a black screen with the text "one day earlier." Fourth, two men in suits and hats stand beside a vintage car against a rustic building backdrop.

Here's a T. Rex bored to death trying to bite their own tail. My partner asked me to animate it in stop motion, after she watched a video about the very important topic of "could T. Rex chew its own tail like a dog". The puppet is still a work in progress 🦖

The rikishi are taking-in the town and doing what we all do when in London.
Seeing the sights, admiring the parks, shopping on High Street, taking tea at Fortnum's, using the olde phonebox, eating Chinese, and having a terrific time.

Totally tangential, but I do miss seeing Evans's distinctive laugh-and-clasp in interviews.
cctabet.bsky.social
Imagine if filmmakers like Spielberg, GDT, or Gunn were similarly disdainful of animation; they certainly wouldn't be the legends I consider them to be.

Heck, even Tarantino has put animated sequences in his films.

My mum says I should avoid saying stuff like this, to avoid alienating relatives, but it is dispiriting. It's not even avoiding something for a genuine reason like epilepsy or nightmares, it's just loser shit that makes life harder for my favourite creatives.

And like I often said in my Sailor Moon column, if KPop was live-action, it'd have been written off as cringe-inducing. But because it's animated, so you have to make up excuses to avoid good work instead.
cctabet.bsky.social
Oh no, KPop loosely resembles something from one of the most consistently good film studios, whose best films regularly make me cry, and it's free with a Netflix subscription, no one's gonna mock your fragile masculinity for watching it in a cinema (another pathetic comment).
cctabet.bsky.social
Sorry-not-sorry for going for a tangential rant, but this reminds me I have two cousins who have the most infuriating opinions about animation. Shit like, "Isn't KPop like Pixar, I'm not watching it," "I watched Spider-Verse on a plane, I think it had a pig?"

The most ironic thing I find about this is how Knightley is one of the actresses most frequently targeted by "transvestigators". Granted they'll accuse anyone of being trans, but it's a strong reminder of how transmisogyny is repackaged misogyny for women like her.
