Defence spending is the real socialism - corporate socialism for elite corporations in bed with politicians, who then subsequently absolutely con the taxpayer.
In a real war situation, the several million for a rocket or equipment part is unsustainable and would quickly bankrupt us.

If the skies are closed and empty - you are not completely blind to enemy attack without radar. Infrared excels when it's empty skies with high power heat emissions, like from bomber aircraft.
