We are a weaving and teaching studio working in the Rio Grande and Chimayo tradition in Chimayo, New Mexico.
Weavings are still available from one of our consignment artists, Steven Lennert!
This abstract tapestry weaving is made from 100% wool, mixed with hand-spun as well as hand-dyed and commercial dyes.

Rudy Lee has been taking a break from weaving vests and started weaving 36X60 designs on his new warp.
This Rio Grande weaving uses natural dyes from Centinela Traditional Arts for the yellow (cotta), brown (black walnut), and the red (cochineal).

Did you know that the cochineal beetle can be found in Albuquerque, New Mexico?
You can see this parasitic beetle thriving in white clusters on cactus throughout the city. A pound of cochineal is required for each pound of yarn in order to achieve the darkest reds using this beetle.

Emily Trujillo's October class held at Taos Wools!
Sometimes in her classes she is also visited by the furry friends of her weaving students. These beautiful dogs were woven blankets from their owner. This is the only place she has taught rug weight weaving.

A preview of Lisa Trujillo's next Chimayo Weaving!
We're still in the midst of New Mexico's tourist season, but our events for the year have calmed down and Lisa has been hard at work on the loom able to spend more time focusing on weaving projects again.

Irvin Trujillo has just finished a large batch of naturally dyed red yarn for the weavers at Centinela Traditional Arts!
He estimates this batch is worth about $300 in Cochineal dye!

This piece he has been working on for the past few weeks and it is now ready for display here at Centinela. "Florescent Green Chimayo 2025" includes naturally dyed green with indigo over chamisa and acid dye for the pink highlights.

"Tiferet" is a new Trampas Vallero weaving by Lisa Trujillo; born using mill-spun Churro Wool and a combination of natural and acid dyes, the title of the piece came to Lisa in a dream.
