🌊 A turning point for the ocean and a win for multilateralism 👏

Today, the UN #HighSeasTreaty has entered into force, and we celebrate this exciting moment for ocean protection. It is evidence that a rules-based order can still deliver in the face of escalating environmental breakdown.

For decades, the high seas have been a global blind spot.

Before this treaty, only 1% of the high seas had protection under international agreements. This has changed for the better today, and we are now one step closer to the global goal of protecting at least 30% of the ocean by 2030.
A manifesto for our ocean
In this manifesto, we lay out a roadmap for the protection of the ocean, providing clear policy recommendations to save our seas and safeguard our future.

Governments must move fast and ambitiously to turn commitments into real protections.”

Mangroves are among the most powerful natural climate solutions on Earth. In Ghana, they are also the lifeblood of coastal communities.
