Thanks to the EU Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, Costas Kadis, and his team for meeting with environmental NGOs yesterday.

We had a constructive exchange on the priorities for the year, including the EU Common Fisheries Policy.

We look forward to continuing to work together!
We kicked off the new year with a constructive exchange with Commissioner Kadis on the evaluation & delivery of the EU Common Fisheries Policy.

The #CFP can help restore fish populations and strengthen marine ecosystems.

The EU Common Fisheries Policy is delivering results for fishers and for nature - when well applied.

In the current context of uncertainty and unpredictability,  the Commission has a chance to provide regulatory certainty, and finally make full use of the existing legal framework.

Mangroves are among the most powerful natural climate solutions on Earth. In Ghana, they are also the lifeblood of coastal communities.

🐟 Europe can’t afford to keep wasting fish at sea.

Highgrading is illegal, harmful to ecosystems, and unfair to honest fishers, yet it often goes unseen.

This waste puts huge pressure on marine ecosystems and with almost no risk of getting caught, the practice continues.🌊

🐟 In European waters, fish are being wasted: caught and dumped to make room for more valuable catch.

This practice, known as highgrading, is illegal, but most cases go unreported.

This extremely wasteful and unsustainable practice puts pressure on struggling ecosystems and fishers' livelihoods.
