First half is legit good, second half is off the rails in the funniest, most entertaining way possible. I stand on the hill called Spock’s Brain and I defend it. #TrekBookClub
There’s nothing wrong with “Spock’s Brain,” 🤣 but otherwise, good stuff! #TrekBookClub
A postal envelope. Wow! Twenty five years ago Star Trek, and postal envelopes, were much more popular than they are today. #TrekBookClub
I’m a big fan. The novella is almost a more natural length for stories that feel like tv episodes than the full-length novels. I’m about twenty novellas in so far. Eventually I might work through the whole series. #TrekBookClub
Ahh, he did the New Frontier cover art. I’m reading that book now!
Whoever sold Landru to Phug was the true Ferengi. #TrekBookClu
I was thinking the same thing. The Jews at Masada beamed what, where now? #TrekBookClub
I bet you have a good looking Trek bookshelf by now.
I think part of it had to do with Shatner. He was so good at emoting, at giving impassioned speeches, that it made some kind of weird sense that he could weaponize that. #TtekBookClub
There are questions that arise: didn’t Kirk destroy that computer? Who repaired it? Then who lost or stole it? It makes me laugh to think, “Don’t buy computers on the black market. You might be buying Landru!” #TrekBookClub
Yes, Boris did a whole bunch. He even did a choose your own adventure book called Phaser Fight! #TrekBookClub
Incredible they got an artist of Vallejo’s caliber. That’s probably not a repeatable accomplishment. #TrekBookClub
The Ferengi version of Surak was rejected and remains reviled to this day. 🤣 #TrekBookClub
It was in keeping with the humor of the story. And as the Ferengi are basically a comedic set of characters, I like the idea that their evolutionary environment was soggy. #TrekBookClub
I like Rom as a character but didn’t love him becoming Grand Nagus. It makes the galaxy feel a little small if every minor character has a grand destiny. #TrekBookClub
He’s more fatherly than other captains we’ve seen, which is a fresh dynamic I like. #TrekBookClub
It’s funny how Trek makes alien races by taking one human quality and maxing it out. Vulcans are total logic, Klingons are total war, Ferengi are total greed. It sort of fits with Trek’s allegorical nature. Trek is always trying to say something about humanity. #TrekBookClub
They’re a little hamstrung by not wanting to reveal the fact that we’re dealing with Landru and his lawgivers. The story works hard to keep that reveal under wraps. #TrekBookClub
Captain Gold. He’s a supporting character in the series, but a cool cucumber and a classic Captain. #TrekBookClub
Their problem was that they didn’t start any fights with Klingons, which would have gotten them confined to quarters, giving them a chance to catch up on their technical journals. #TrekBookClub
I love the puzzlement of Biron regarding the Federation’s continued existence. People with a Zero-sum mentality can never comprehend that they might be living in a nonzero-sum world, or galaxy. #TrekBookClub
I’m wondering who’s the better engineer, Geordi LaForge or Miles O’Brien… #TrekBookClub
