I should note that I had to leave out Frank Coppola's kids with Nordina in one of the WATO charts for the Coppolas so I could get a clear view of what my connection to the Coppolas is as those matches were a LOT closer. Like 616 cMs or lower. #genchat

What do you guys think? It's pretty obvious that these two descend from Francesco Coppola in one way or another. They clearly descend from Giovanni Selvaggio and Maria Astorino at much larger cM matches. Think triple digits for a few of 'em. #genchat

I checked things out on DNApainter's WATO tool using almost all the Coppola DNA matches and the kids as a base and several of the hypotheses point to either a child of Francesco Coppola or one of his sons/daughters who married a Coppola. #genchat

My gut tells me that the connection is on the Astorino side considering how a Coppola married an Astorino as seen on this profile. www.wikitree.com/wiki/Coppola... #genchat

Sidenote, I low key love how this profile is Coppola 411. It opens up a lot of joke possibilities.

Maria stayed in Italy and remarried in 1914, two years after her first husband passed away. #genchat

What's interesting is that no mother was listed on his death certificate. Just his father, Michele.

I have a friend in Italy who has Maria as an ancestor and she's going to go to San Pietro to get the birth record. Maria moved back to Italy shortly after Giovanni's death in Haverhill in the 1910s. She took the kids with her and they eventually returned years later. #genchat

It's hard to say where the connection is but, here's a question. If it the Coppola was Giovanni Selvaggio's mom, wouldn't my matches with the Selvaggios be a little stronger? Just wondering. #genchat

Maria Astorino's mom could be a Coppola because there's a history of Coppolas marrying Astorinos in San Pietro. My third cousin has an ancestral couple who are Coppola and Astorino. Brothers marrying sisters in a family happy a LOT in Italy. #genchat
