i get the point is that people Die a lot in war but we barely get to know some of these characters who get killed off and i dont think it has the gravitas that it should. i think zeta pulled that off a bit better BUT ill hold my full take on that until its finished

im really enjoying victory gundam so far, i'd say my biggest criticism is that there are a lot of character deaths but not many of them feel "weighty" if that makes sense

If your review average is a 7 because everybody gave you a 7, that's one thing. If your average is a 7 because it's half 10s and half 4s, that is how you know it's The Good Stuff
yeah, ive heard a couple interviews where he basically says some like this. its a rather essentialist and kind of archaic viewpoint but its also kind of fascinating regardless

i get a vibe from tomino's work sometimes that he thinks women are more powerful then men but not necessarily in a woke or feminist sense but in a way that would probably take a lot more paragraphs or perhaps an essay to explain

i think what adds to that is how casually everything escalates. his behavior becomes more extreme, but it feels more like a natural progression than any psychological break. when it comes to unreliable pov films itโs one of the most interesting ive seen

for example the scene where he breaks into langfordโs home with rita, for a hot minute i genuinely thought it was one of his bs sequences until i noticed the other characters were not โon scriptโ so to speak. it really did catch me off guard

something i really liked abt this movie was how seamlessly pupkinโs delusions fit into his reality that at some point its hard to distinguish between them. like at the beginning it feels easy because of how outlandish his daydreams are, but at around the midpoint its less certain
