I believe this creepy Limbo-style Tergrid Alter was the one that sparked my interest in painting silhouette art on cards. Also, very Halloween!
I'm after these, I am a Jund Girl and need a new aristocrat deck!
Seems appropriate for the Epstein Ballroom brought to you by T-Mobile, powered by Google, with a Windows and Apple processor
He’s designing the ballroom with AI isn’t he www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
Also I want to note, if you want to make a Battle of Wits commander deck, or a hybrid Mana deck that ignores the color identity....that is what Rule Zero is for, it doesn't need to be changed in the game rules!
Actually mentioning Yorion, all of the companions (except 1) become mono colored
Yes it is things white can do, but also very strong cards, these are the 4 I could think of right off hand
You actually just said it, Mono white with access to spells in the other 4 colors
I only picked Lurrus because it is one of my favorite cards, and the color limitation is what pushed me to make one of my fave decks (Lurrus as Companion) and it feels wrong that I would be able put Lurrus in Bruna, Korvold, Dogmeat, Rin and Seri, Zabaz....it would be as common an add as Sol Ring
Also this is coming from someone that has seen hybrid Dimir cards that would be amazing in Korvold, but it doesn't fit the spirit of commander, imo
Probably the best deck interaction I can think of is Lurrus in a Lightpaws deck, being able to return and recast cards from the graveyard when Lurrus doesn't belong in the mono white color identity.
I was meaning the identity in building, cards like Lurrus being usable in Mono white and Mono black when it is a Orzhov card is the problem
The card pair I used to describe the Hybrid Mana in a deck was Uro-Gaak, adding Dimir, Golgari, Izzet, Gruul, and Azorius cards to Uro is crazy
One more thing I want to touch on as an amateur custom card designer, I have used Hybrid Mana to add the color identity without the Mana cost or to add flexibility. The cards were still designed to be the full color identity.
Also aesthetically doesn't look or feel right after trying to build a deck around this change.
The limitation pushes creativity and design on decks, I think ignoring half of the hybrid Mana will cause issues in the long run.
I just want to express that color identity is what separates Commander from other formats, seeing hybrid Mana symbols that aren't in your commander's identity feels like playing a Singleton version of Modern.

This card is $0.31. That fact continues to astound me.

Strands of Night is such a sweet card for Commander decks of all kinds. Cheap recurring reanimation with some possible land sacrifice synergies thrown in because why not?

Commander players should definitely give this underrated gem a shot.
