So, I don’t own HeroQuest: First Light (yet)… but a friend mentioned how the first quest felt pretty punishing to newcomers. So, I loaded it up on the app and played rules-as-written (no house rules or homebrew).

Yeah, it was pretty brutal 😳 Most of the party staggered out on their last bp.

Table has plenty of other uses too. Just had a family Monopoly night* and the trays were handy for Mini-Grenade to keep his cards and coins on/sorted.

* Fall Guys Monopoly remains our favorite in being fast to play and easy for youngins to grasp. That and catapulting Beans is always hilarious.

It’s been a long summer. About to be back on my bullshit playing solo HeroQuest.

Just spruced up my HQ “Dashboard” in Obsidian. Also acquired a foldable puzzle table (with trays!) so I can have plenty of space without having to contend for space at the kitchen table.

I’m still not terribly thrilled with the Switch 2 account experience (explaining to my kid that our Animal Crossing island isn’t on his device anymore is annoying).

But I will say: Mario Kart World is a pretty fun game. Also: the upgrades to Breath of the Wild are pretty neat.

Around here we have lots of families that are die-hard Dallas Cowboys fans. Even when they suck, you’ll see households decked out in their team apparel and gather for every game.

Also did a thing requiring both systems to be hooked up to AC Power (not just any USB charging). I had just setup both docks in their homes and I had to undo them both in order for them to be close enough to each other and be hooked up lol

We got our hands on a Switch 2. So far I’m pretty annoyed at the transfer process — I did a “local” swap with the hopes of keeping our save files on the OG Switch (which I’m handing off to my son). It kept the profiles connected to an email, but wiped my kid’s profile.

Seven players for Sigil & Shadow last night. Ages ranged from teenagers to late 40s. I am exhausted, but happy to see such a wild cast. I fudged my own rules just because so wanted to see some fun characters thrive.

Predominantly Afflicted, Seekers, one Host and one Bloodsucker.
