Jane Goodall was extraordinary. Such an ability to connect with people from political leaders to TV viewers.

My favourite Jane Goodall quotes....so many, so to the point, so wise. How different the world would be if enough people listened to her.
"People think hope is wishful thinking, and actually hope is about action." Quote from the Wiser Than Me podcast with Julia Louis-Dreyfus. "Only when our clever brain and our human heart work together in harmony can we achieve our true potential." Graphic by the Jane Goodall Institute of South Africa. "You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." Graphic by Ariana Huffington on Instagram.

I am filled with so much love and gratitude that I cannot grieve. Dr. Goodall worked tirelessly in her gentle, hopeful way for a better world for all life on Earth. She has laid down her field notebook for the last time; now it is for us to fill with wonder, joy, and connection, into infinity.

Jane Goodall's work insisting, with evidence from her brilliant and tenacious fieldwork, that we were not so separate from animals, and they were much more like us than the Eurocentric theorists asserted, was so important.

I WOULD get up & go for my morning walk…

But there’s a cat curled up sleeping right next to me, on both sides, in my bed.

The 3rd Law of Feline Dynamics clearly states that you must not disturb a cat when it’s sleeping on or next to you, lest it throw the world off its axis.

That’s just science.

Not sure if folks realize that more people in Texas are employed working in renewable energy than in oil & gas now.

Would set up some interesting moral dilemmas for Bond. Although Timothy Dalton would make an ace baddie!
charleshumble.bsky.social
Could set up a rather fun moral ambiguity; obviously what she is doing is terrible, but she is trying to bring the world to its senses!

Operating from a high-tech research facility hidden beneath the Arctic ice, she has developed a network of clandestine weather manipulation technology capable of accelerating natural climate disasters.

Hmm. How about Dr. Helena Voss, a brilliant Norwegian climatologist turned radical eco-terrorist. Once a respected scientist whose warnings about climate tipping points were ignored by governments, has concluded that humanity will only change when faced with immediate, undeniable catastrophe.

Could The Point of No Return be a Bond eco-thriller?
A catastrophic methane leak from melting Siberian permafrost threatens to accelerate global warming beyond recovery, but MI6 discovers it's no accident.

Good title! "I Saved the World Today" does sound like a Bond song. Brosnan's run of Bond wasn't my favorite but Tomorrow Never Dies' theme of technological manipulation feels rather prescient. I did think a rumoured spin-off with Halle Berry's Jinx could have been fun.

I'm moderately obsessed with Anna Lapwood's most recent album Firedove. This sequence of tracks:
Time – Hans Zimmer
Flight – Rachel Portman
Limina Luminis – Olivia Belli
Firedove – Julie Cooper
Is just magic.

& I love the Duruflé Prelude and Fugue at the end.
