Is that the one that starts with you walking down the street? Are you just trying to trick me into having that open on my browser again for months?! "The internets. Voiced by Beth!" #UKSGForum2025
Lovely to be nabbed in the coffee break to be told that this video we did at the Crick was really useful when getting to grips with OA and the STEM publishing landscape.

@missoliviareads.bsky.social and Taran Johal from U Wales TSD Birmingham at #UKSGForum2025 Wider role of the library in information literacy and digital literacy now extending to AI literacy - keeping up with the fast-moving baseline that is helping students progress into the world of work.

Thank you for a new term, Amanda Halpin from DCU - "café journals" - now that's the creme de la crema of what publishers want their content to be categorised as! Ho ho. But seriously - presumably that's the most popular ones?! That literally get shelved in the café? #UKSGForum2025

How do you merge 4 libraries' collections? In a word, spreadsheets. (Amanda Halpin, Dublin City University library). I'm sure @drbeth.bsky.social will have a jumper to offer as illustration! #UKSGForum2025

We laugh but it is an important point. Librarians are EXPERTS. Never underestimate the importance of those "vibes". "We know the reading lists, we know the collection" Steph Gibson, U Suffolk at #UKSGForum2025
Fantastic opening of #UKSGForum2025 by @godwyns.bsky.social. "Without context, data is superficial, incorrect, even harmful"; "We need to be more intentional about involving communities" and "bring [data] to life with storytelling" - "Libraries are the bridge between academia and communities" ♥️
December 3, 2025 at 10:49 AM
Big laugh of recognition and empathy at #UKSGForum2025 for Steph Gibson talking about limited systems and resources at U Suffolk. "No reading list management system - have a combination of Word docs and Sharepoint. We have to make decisions based on "usage data and vibes"." 😅

Such a example from @missoliviareads.bsky.social in response to @godwyns.bsky.social. As my local primary's SEND Governor I so frequently see super impressive progress and amazing achievements, by pupils and by teachers and TAs, that is just completely unrecognised by "the data". #UKSGForum2025
#UKSGForum2025 @godwyns.bsky.social starting us off talking about the "hidden points" between data - what is left unsaid, and the power of community. As an ex secondary school teacher, this brings me back to so many of the students who achieved so well personally, but by data made little progress 👏🏼👏🏼

#UKSGForum2025 How community engagement can make an impact and the power of "the bigger picture" not just what the data says. The library as a "community centre of knowledge" - what a mesmerising keynote from @godwyns.bsky.social to start this day!

I recently learned a lovely word, * flong *

It brings together two things I love: printing and cake.

I've written about it in the Scholarly Kitchen today. Enjoy!
