Seeing comp pics of a man with a beard vs w/o always makes me think about people in history that vanished w/o a trace.

They could have simply grown a beard & moved 2 towns over. Started going by Patrick instead of Pat. Boom, vanished.

Growing up around addicts made me expect the relapse.

No one modeled recovery or growth for me when I was little.
Only failure.

Witnessing growth, even in fiction, is like seeing the laws of physics violated. My whole world becomes vulnerable.
