A great article from Rachel, who really understands the heart and soul of Dad’s work.

Henry Crabgrass would also like to remind you that consent is important when getting up in some shrub's business.

I've been using it for my latest personal project, and yeah, I really like it. As a "sole dev" (cos it's a personal project), I'm not getting the full branching experience, but looks like it should be good.

(I still have it on display - it _is_ attractive, and it's _deniably_ phallic)

I'm pretty sure I bought a fetching pencil artwork in there, of purple towers against a greenish background.

It wasn't until significantly later that I realised it was quite deeply phallic.

(Because who doesn't hum _in 5/8 time_ while getting a shave?)

...
Eh.

I feel I'm on the opposite side of the AI hype wagon from a lot of this year's attendees; but even José's undeniably-slick app did not make we want to interact with a coding agent.

Oh, hey, you were here? Didn't catch you. Hope you had fun!

Also, very few of those are trumpets.

I'm fine.

Sedation dentistry is no longer weird. Phone cameras are really good. The price of solar panels has dropped by tens of thousands. Southern white rhinos, giant pandas, Arabian oryx and Stellar sea lions are no longer endangered.

And, I can testify, modern cancer treatments are fucking amazing.

Please give me an unironic list of things that have gotten better over the last ten years because I’m spiraling.

I’ll start: you can buy an enormous TV from Costco for like $100 bucks now.

Greek writers writing about Egyptian gods are like "θωθ" 😊

Just had a play with the dynamic fog and lights - it's :chefs-kiss:. So simple, does what you need it to (doors!) and renders buttery-smooth.

In traditional European heraldry, there are colors and metals (silver/white, gold/yellow). The rule is you never put a metal on a metal, or a color on a color.

It's a rule for readability reasons - you want contrast. You want to be able to read it clearly on a battlefield. That said, it's a rule.
A "roll of arms," a grid of heraldric shields showing various crests and patterns.

I admire your restraint re: oral exams.

Thanks. It's so frustrating seeing how ineffective the NHS has become, all the while knowing it's so much better than the other option.

Tax me, government! Tax me, and give it to public services!

_How did you do this?_

Like, seriously. Our daughter's been on the waiting list for an assessment for 2.5 years; it's looking like the same again before they'll get to her. By which time she'll be an adult. And the NHS absolutely refuses to guarantee they'll respect a private diagnosis!

Favourite Venn diagram, you say?
A Venn diagram showing various species of mustelid (the weasel family). The categorisations are "Wet" (Eurasian Otter), "Beefy" (American badger" and "Tube" (weasel). "Wet Tube" is a Mink; "Beefy Wet" is a Sea Otter; "Beefy Tube" is a Fisher / Pennant's Marten; "Beefy Wet Tube" is a Giant Otter.

Ah, my apologies.

I looked up how to spell "Tillycoultry" and everything...

A memory seared into my consciousness in much the same way as "Stirling: Tillicoultry, near Stirling"
