An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

A while back I paid upfront for cookery classes. Company then cancelled the class: they wanted to focus on corporate events. Asked for a refund several times, always fobbed off. Eventually charged back through credit card. Just got an email that they are being wound up by creditors. Not surprised.

I was really enthused by the idea of delivering the budget in print form without someone getting up and wanging on about fiscal envelopes for an hour. But then they did that anyway. Disappointing.

I would have just said "will rot your brain and render you incapable of critical thinking": I wouldn't have thought of the God thing. That's why the Pope gets the big bucks.

I would have just said "will rot your brain and render you incapable of critical thinking": I wouldn't have thought of the God thing. That's why the Pope gets the big bucks.

Think I've figured out what happened at the OBR. A staffer in the office yelled "What's that acronym for special educational needs?" Someone shouted "SEND", and that was that.

Worked hard for decades, earned a bit of money and paid full tax on it. Now my retirement is partly funded by dividends on that already-taxed income. So obviously the tax on those dividends should go up.
